Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Fletcher.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I officially began my acting career in 2008 while studying at the Weist Barron Ryan Acting Academy in New Jersey. I wanted to be an actress since I was a little girl and it wasn’t until then that I worked up the courage to do so. I instantly fell in love with the art and never looked back. Within the following years, I starred in over ten films and I studied technique and character development along the way!
In 2014, I relocated to Los Angeles to pursue my acting career full force. Immediately after I moved, I began a mentorship program at Paramount Pictures alongside a well-established film producer. After gaining that experience, I continued to work hard and land other great opportunities as well. In the last movie I starred in – I was lucky enough to work with one of my favorite actresses, Dee Wallace! As I continue to establish myself in the entertainment business, I can’t help but to think: what’s next? And I’m looking forward to it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a very bumpy road! With being an actress, I’ve learned that you have to develop thick skin to succeed. We constantly hear the word no and we have to keep pushing passed it. For years I also struggled with finding a stable income that was flexible with my acting schedule. From auditions to booking gigs, it was stressful to get the days off which lead to missed opportunities. I’m fortunate enough now where that is no longer an issue!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actress who specializes in Method acting. I like to fully inhabit the role of the character in any part that I take on. The latest movie I did was called “Await The Dawn” where I played a recovering drug addict. This was challenging yet so fulfilling- since I was able to create an entirely different character that was completely opposite of myself. I created her physically from chapping my lips everyday before action was called to picking my nails apart and leaving my hair as greasy as ever. Before even starting the production, I work on character development and creating a back story to give the character depth. I’m most proud of my work on this project since I grow with each film that I do! I think what sets me apart from most is that I’m willing to go the extra mile in making my character as real as possible.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love best about LA is all the opportunities it brings. The possibilities are endless in this city! It’s full of dreamers who succeed everyday. I would say the only thing I don’t enjoy is that it’s a bit expensive!
