We’re looking forward to introducing you to Yvette Samick. Check out our conversation below.
Yvette, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Just had a family photo adventure with Mom, Dad, and their two adorable furballs! She confessed that picking her favorite shots was way tougher than choosing her wedding pics because there were so many gorgeous options! My heart did a little happy dance knowing I captured such unforgettable memories of Stan and Rin for them.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am dog photographer in Orange County. I have been photographing dogs and their humans for over 10 years. I am exclusively a dog photographer that differentiates from a pet photographer. I focus my talents solely on dogs. They are my people!
My tagline is “Dog portraits for women who design their life around their dog”. This embodies all that I believe and live. I understand Dog Moms because I am one. You know the Dog Mom that plans her weekend outings around places and restaurants you can take your pup.
I am a boutique photographer, Each photo session I meticulously plan location and shoot details to ensure the images are perfect for each client.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
With guidance from a renowned branding coach, I made a significant discovery that would define my career in dog photography. My unique branding focus revolves around capturing the heartwarming and authentic bond between Dog Moms and their pups. This focus not only sets my work apart but also resonates deeply with my clients, who cherish these moments of connection.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would reassure my younger self that you will discover your true path. In time, you will uncover what brings you immense joy, combining your creativity with your passion for dogs.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m on an exciting adventure right now, diving into the world of storytelling through videos! While my trusty camera captures amazing stories in still shots, videos bring a whole new dimension to the narrative. My mission? To become a video storytelling pro and add some magic to my photography business! I’m learning how to craft storyboards and edit until I have a dazzling final video. Sure, there are moments when it feels like a puzzle with a missing piece, but I absolutely love the thrill of learning along the way!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I hung up my camera tomorrow, I imagine my future clients might feel a profound sense of missed opportunity, regretting that they never got to experience my unique photography sessions, where each click encapsulates the most cherished memories.
