Johnny Aragon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Johnny, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently, I’ve lost about 11 lbs (working on shedding more weight) and I could not be prouder of myself. I’ve had a few years of dealing with internal issues but I’ve leaned on prayer and hard work to make this happen. I’ve had to remember how I achieved success in times of adversity in the past. Having a good support system has been incredible to say the least.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Johnny Aragon, a licensed REALTOR® based in Pasadena, CA, proudly serving the Greater Los Angeles area. My journey in real estate began in May 2019 with Coldwell Banker Realty, where I started as a staff member before transitioning into sales and staying with the same brokerage. Today, I help buyers and sellers navigate the real estate process with care, professionalism, and dedication.
Before entering the real estate world, I served five years in the U.S. Navy right out of high school. After my service, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University Los Angeles and later completed my MBA at the University of Southern California (Fight On!).
Giving back to the veteran community is close to my heart. I’ve been involved with organizations like Team Red, White & Blue and The Mission Continues, and I’m currently a member of American Legion Post 283 in Pacific Palisades.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about personal growth—whether it’s reading, working out, learning new skills, spending quality time with loved ones, or exploring new places. I’m continually working to grow my real estate practice and provide exceptional service to my clients.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Two people saw me clearly before I could see myself: my mother and my late friend, Chief Daniel Collins.
Growing up, my mother always believed in me. Even when I was shy, quiet, and unsure of myself, she reminded me that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. Her unwavering support planted the seeds of confidence that I carry with me today.
Chief Collins was a Navy recruiter in my hometown—and also a neighbor who watched me change in real time. He saw potential in me long before I did. He encouraged me to pursue a path in the Navy, telling me I had what it took, even when I wasn’t sure I did. His belief in me helped me take that leap.
Their encouragement and faith helped shape the man I’ve become.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Johnny, you are going to be a spectacular man. You’re dealing with struggles at home and at school but these experiences are shaping you to be a better version of yourself. Your mother, late sister, late brother and the rest of your family and friends will be very proud of what you will accomplish on your journey in life. The road ahead will not be smooth and there will be setbacks. Use theses setbacks as another stepping stone to something greater. You will be happy with how much you’ve accomplished by not being afraid of trying something new. Never give up.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that you could do everything all alone without asking for help. I’ve learned in the past 17 years that it simply isn’t the case. It’s ok to ask for help when you need it. It’s ok to delegate. There are so many people that are always willing to give back when you need it.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I would stop sweating the small stuff. Life’s too short to get caught up in minor worries or distractions. I’d make international travel a regular part of my life—exploring new cultures, gaining fresh perspectives, and creating unforgettable memories. I’d also double down on personal growth and focus on making a meaningful impact through my career and continued service to others.
