Hi Steve, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I appreciate the opportunity to share my journey. It’s been quite an adventure filled with incredible experiences and collaborations. My story begins with a passion for storytelling and media that I nurtured from a young age. This passion guided me through my academic years and eventually led me to the entertainment industry.
My professional career began over 17 years ago when I stepped into the world of Public Relations. Early on, I recognized the power of media in shaping narratives and influencing public perception. This understanding fueled my drive to create impactful stories for brands and individuals alike. My commitment to delivering high visibility and crucial exposure for my clients allowed me to collaborate with some of the biggest names in entertainment, film/television, music, sports, and gaming.
In 2011, I founded Steve Nguyen & Associates℠ (SNA), my global Public Relations and Entertainment firm. Leading SNA has been a remarkable journey, where I’ve had the privilege of working with iconic global celebrities and consumer brands across diverse industries such as food and beverage, health, wellness, beauty, fashion, travel, and hospitality. Additionally, I’ve worked closely with international film conglomerates like Universal Pictures and Lionsgate, helping to bring their stories to a global audience.
A significant milestone in my career was the transition into film, where my expertise in powerful storytelling found a new canvas. This transition was seamless, as it allowed me to merge my PR experience with my love for filmmaking. Through both live action and animation motion pictures, I’ve been able to bring narratives to life in ways that resonate deeply with audiences.
Being nationally recognized by outlets such as the HuffPost has been an honor, but the true reward has been the ability to create and share stories that matter. As a serial entrepreneur and media strategist, I continue to explore new opportunities and collaborations that push the boundaries of storytelling and media.
Every step of this journey has been driven by a passion for storytelling and a commitment to excellence. I’m excited for what the future holds and look forward to continuing to innovate and inspire through my work.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started in public relations in the entertainment industry, the road was anything but smooth. As one of the few Asians in the field, earlier in my career, I rarely saw people who looked like me. This lack of representation meant that opportunities to take point with clients—whether they were talent, film, television, or brands—were scarce. I had to work twice as hard to earn the chance to represent A-list talent and Fortune 500 brands.
The work ethic instilled in me by my immigrant parents, who were boat refugees from Vietnam, became my guiding light. Their resilience and determination fueled my drive to succeed. Over time, this dedication caught the attention of entertainment executives and CEOs from major clients like iHeart Media, Universal Pictures, Lionsgate, The Kardashians and many more. Their recognition of my hard work and unique perspective helped me overcome the initial challenges and carve out a successful path in the industry.

From the beginning, my vision was clear: to create a public relations and digital marketing agency, SNA that truly understands the intricacies of its clients’ needs and helps them achieve their business goals. Today, our headquarters are in Newport Beach, California, with a significant presence in New York City and teams across major markets like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Austin, Atlanta, Miami, and Nashville.
Currently, SNA Communications is dedicated to growing mid- to large-sized consumer goods, entertainment, health + wellness, technology, and hospitality brands. What makes you happy?
Happiness for me is deeply intertwined with my work and the impact it has on others. Everyone who truly knows me is aware that I find immense joy in dedicating a majority of my time to my profession. I’m fortunate to be in a position where I can choose clients, projects, and endeavors that truly fulfill me.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the opportunity to support individuals and communities that reflect my own background. Leveraging my network, resources, and expertise to build brands that champion inclusion and to share stories from under-represented communities brings me great satisfaction. My heart is particularly full when I can contribute to the AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander) communities. It is a life of service to uplift and catapult others forward.
Helping these communities thrive, sharing their stories, and promoting their achievements is not just professionally fulfilling but personally enriching. It’s this blend of meaningful work and personal connection that truly makes me happy.
