Today we’d like to introduce you to Shant Ghazar

Hi Shant, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been in coffee business for over 10 years. After learning about Specialty Coffee in Kalei Coffee in Beirut, Lebanon, I moved to Armenia in 2020 and decided to partner with Artur Lumen Gevorgyan to open up Lumen Coffee’s first location an espresso bar/roastery in the heart of Yerevan, Armenia.

After a couple of successful years where we opened our second front house in Yerevan, I had already moved to Los Angeles to be united with my loved one.

I always dreamt that we make it this far to bring a piece of what we did in Armenia to Los Angeles. With that in mind we had a chance to get started with a pop up at a corner bar in Highland Park. Which now, is a permanent location of ours.

In six months time, we became one of the neighborhood’s favorite coffee spots, serving high end specialty coffee, creating nice atmosphere and offering some fine baked goods.

Our journey continues now with our Roastery being in operation in Azusa, CA to serve and sell our freshly roasted coffee.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were definitely some challenges along the way. I would say the biggest challenge for us was finding the right location.

I only moved here 4 years ago and to me this was a very different lifestyle to adapt to in the first place.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lumen Coffee espresso bar and roastery is a company dedicated to roasting and serving high end specialty coffee.

Our passion is searching for the perfect cup. Our commitment is in bringing the full potential of flavours that each coffee offers to your cup.

We take great amount of time cupping, tasting and evaluating the coffees to meet our set standards.

We are known for our espressos, freddos, cappuccinos and our special drinks. Each season we create a new recipe; be it passion fruit or roses and cardamom.

What sets us apart is that our baristas really enjoy what they do. They are always trying to push their boundaries to serve something special.

I am really proud of the journey we went through and how dedicated we still are as day 1.

We are currently working on our website to have our coffee bags available online for nationwide shipping.

How do you define success?
Success for me is to enjoy what I do, work what I love and put a smile on each customer’s face.
