Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Kropp.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story in real estate began as an assistant to a top-producing agent in Orange
County. I had a front-row seat to excellence. I watched closely, learned quickly,
and developed a deep respect for the details that make a great Realtor truly great.
When I launched my own career in 1998 at Coldwell Banker in Mission Viejo, I leaned into
what I had learned. In my first six months, I became the top listing agent in the
office. In those days, transactions meant stacks of paper files — so many that my
manager teased that I was going to need a wheelbarrow just to get them in and out of the
office.
Over time, my career expanded beyond one region. I’ve worked in multiple
California markets, including Northern California wine country, and each area
taught me something new. Exposure to different communities, price points, and
client needs gave me a broader lens and strengthened my ability to adapt and lead
in any market environment.
I’ve stayed with Coldwell Banker throughout my career because our values align. I
appreciate their ethics, innovation, and strong agent support. That backing allows
me to focus on what matters most to me — building relationships and guiding
people through one of the most meaningful decisions of their lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It would be unrealistic to say it’s been a perfectly smooth road. Real estate is
incredibly rewarding — but it’s also incredibly complex.
Over the course of my career, I’ve watched the industry transform. When I started, I
carried a pager and faxed contracts! Today we’re working with digital platforms,
online marketing, and AI-driven tools. The pace of change means you must
constantly evolve. Staying sharp, educated, and adaptable has been essential to me
maintaining excellence and serving my clients at the highest level.
Another challenge is that Realtors truly wear many hats. On any given day, I’m a
marketer, negotiator, strategist, compliance expert, coordinator, and therapist.
There are emotional conversations, shifting timelines, and unexpected hurdles that
require calm leadership and quick thinking.
Of course, there have been lessons along the way. Early on, I invested in a pricey
television commercial that I later learned aired at 3 a.m. on a very obscure
channel. It was a humbling — and expensive — lesson about being selective and
strategic with my marketing dollars.
But I believe obstacles are what refine you. Each challenge has strengthened my
ability to navigate complex situations and deliver results. The road may not have
been perfectly smooth, but it has shaped the level of expertise, resilience, and
perspective I bring to every client today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
With more than 25 years full-time in real estate, I have learned that this
business is ultimately about people, not just property.
I work with a wide range of clients, from first-time buyers navigating a competitive
market to luxury sellers preparing significant homes for sale. No matter the price
point, every transaction is personal to me. When someone trusts me with one of
the largest financial decisions of their life, I take that responsibility seriously.
I am known for staying steady when situations become complex. Real estate often
involves strong emotions and unexpected challenges, and I genuinely enjoy finding
solutions that keep everyone moving toward a successful result. Clear
communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving are central to my
approach.
As an Accredited Stager, I provide staging support as a benefit to my listing clients.
Thoughtful presentation can significantly influence buyer interest and final sales
price, and I love helping sellers position their homes to stand out in the Southern
California market.
What makes me most proud of my brand is the trust behind my business. The majority of my
work comes from repeat clients and referrals, many of whom consider me their
“Realtor for life”. While I am honored to be recognized as a top-producing agent, the relationships I have built over the years are what matter most. My goal is always to deliver results with integrity, experience, and genuine care in a way that feels personal and meaningful. My clients know that I am here for them not just for one transaction, but for every chapter that follows.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always an outgoing kid. I loved animals and the outdoors. I loved adventure including fly fishing with my Dad at Matilija creek in Ojai. School came easy for me and I was always placed in advanced classes. In High School I enjoyed life science AND going out with friends. I loved studying language, piano and I rode horses – both English and Western. I made it a point as a teenager to befriend and include the not so popular kids because I had a heart for those kinds of kids.
