Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikey Koffman
Hi Mikey , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my career in the fashion industry working as an in-house PR professional for some of the most iconic brands, including Da-Nang, Joe’s Jeans, Stitch’s Jeans, 575 Denim, and Blue Cult. During this time, I was responsible for celebrity gifting, managing public relations efforts, and overseeing runway shows. It was an exciting, fast-paced environment that gave me invaluable experience and a deep understanding of the fashion world.
After working with different companies over the years, I was equipped with so much knowledge I decided it was time to do this on my own, and in 2005, I launched my own company, Endless Road Entertainment. It was a bold move, but I was determined to carve my path and create something truly unique.
By 2008, I had the opportunity to take over LA Fashion Week from Smashbox Studios. I was able to bring the event to Hollywood, and with that move, L.A. Fashion Weekend was born. The event became a celebrated platform for designers, sponsors, celebrities and media as it was live on KTLA and I was proud to be a driving force behind its transformation.
Throughout my journey, I’ve always sought to expand my horizons and bring fresh perspectives to the fashion and entertainment world. My experiences have shaped who I am today—an entrepreneur, a connector, and a storyteller dedicated to creating memorable moments in the industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to entrepreneurship is never easy—it’s often paved with boulders. As an entrepreneur, you’re constantly faced with obstacles, whether financial, client-based, employee-related, or even self-doubt. You wear every hat imaginable, from marketing and sales to accounting and customer service. The struggles are endless, and you learn quickly that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Once you’ve experienced the freedom of working for yourself, it becomes incredibly difficult to go back to working for someone else. The sense of ownership, the highs, and the lows—there’s nothing quite like it.
Beyond the typical challenges, there were personal barriers I had to face as well. In the fashion world, I was often seen as an outsider. The industry, for a long time, seemed to only embrace certain ideals—gay men and society’s version of the “beautiful woman” were the ones accepted and celebrated. As a lesbian woman who didn’t always fit the conventional feminine mold, I was overlooked, dismissed, and even disregarded by many in the fashion community. I was deemed “different,” and that difference was seen as a limitation. But I refused to let that define me. I pushed forward, creating my own space in an industry that initially wouldn’t even look my way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Endless Road Entertainment is an event management and public relations firm and the proud owner of L.A. Fashion Weekend. We’re also in the process of launching our very own magazine—stay tuned! My passion lies in producing a wide range of events, from runway shows and news segments to photo shoots, product launches, and talent management.
Currently, our company works closely with health and wellness brands, an area I’m deeply passionate about. Health has always been a vital part of my life, and I’m committed to promoting companies and individuals who are making a positive impact in this space.
When it comes to L.A. Fashion Weekend, my mission is to showcase incredible, talented designers and help them gain the exposure they deserve. Our shows have been running successfully for 19 consecutive years, and we’re always looking for fresh talent to join us each season. In addition to designers, we welcome brands and businesses that have products to share with our guests, offering them a platform to showcase their work.
At Endless Road Entertainment, we take pride in our ability to attract attention to these events and create valuable opportunities for both participants and attendees. Seeing the growth and success of those who have been part of L.A. Fashion Weekend is incredibly rewarding. It’s inspiring to watch designers and businesses gain recognition, expand their reach, and grow their brands.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in government housing for the first 18 years of my life and am truly grateful for the life I have created on my own today. Every step I take is about moving forward and striving for something better. I’m deeply passionate about what I do, but the fear of financial instability—of scrambling for money—has always been a constant motivator for me.
I’ve always been the protector of my friends, standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. There’s something deeply ingrained in me about fighting for others, especially when they don’t have the voice or resources to fight back. That’s part of my ethos: to make a difference, not just for myself, but for those around me.
I’m self-made, and I never had a family safety net to fall back on. I was raised by my grandmother, and though it was a struggle growing up, it also shaped me into the tenacious person I am today. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I wasn’t sure exactly what form that would take, but I was certain that I would carve my path. That fire, that drive to build something from nothing, has always burned within me.
