Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Pimentel.
Hi Francisco , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started working at a young age, 15 years old to be exact. Selling cotton candy for Disney on ice at the staples center in Los Angeles, CA. I believe that was starting point where i learned hard work and patience. I would make 1$ for each cotton candy i sold. Fast forward to when i was 22 years old i got fired from traveling Disney on ice, i returned to long beach, ca and started working as a day porter. I received a phone call from my uncle telling me his electrical company is hiring apprentices and that he would take me under his wing. I have zero experience in construction but I do know how to work 17+ plus hour shifts and hard labor from Disney on ice running up and down stairs selling cotton candy. I took the job opportunity spent my small savings of $600 on power tools and hand tools and never looked back. I decided to quit the job with my uncle and venture off to a commercial company to expand my electrical background to learn and i also enrolled at LATTC electrical program where I was put on the dean’s list. Electrical you learn something new every day. As i aged with time I worked my way up to lead technician, foreman, and an assistant project manager. That’s when i finally decided to take the exam to become a California electrical contractor, all this while managing a baseball team at long beach little league. With my networking and friendships i was able to prove my skillset and work ethic, which impressed a lot of people to whom i had no ideas were builders and architects while I was coaching, from there came opportunities, word of mouth and i seized every opportunity. Now TFG Electrical is a Electrical company that provides excel work, helping build Los Angeles County.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This was not a smooth road. A few honorable struggles to mention were waking up at 5 am to arrive at work at 6 AM, make sure I’m performing in a safe and timely manner. I had to learn how to manage paycheck to paycheck, buying 1 new tool every week was a must. Learning how to own up to my mistakes on the job site and taking orders from a grumpy foreman and not let his attitude dictate my day.
Making time to go to work and go to a trade college and getting home with a few hours of sleep was not easy as well.

My favorite book is rich dad poor dad. At work i use a ugly book and app to help navigate through certain code questions, and to find the answers for the electrical code.
