Inspiring Conversations with Dina Litt of Media Advertising & Brand Partnerships

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dina Litt.

Founded in 1973, Litt Concept House is a family-run furniture and home decor brand specializing in antiques and one-of-a-kind rugs based in Sherman Oaks, California. Started by Mitchell & Sharon Litt, husband and wife team. Together they traveled the world to thoughtfully pick beautiful antiques. Way before the internet, people would line up to shop the containers as soon as they were unpacked and hit their store floor. It was quite a time.

Today, in its second generation, Dina and Kevin Litt have created a destination for inspiration through quality, design and utility. A place to visit IRL and touch, see and feel beautiful pieces for your home.

Kevin started traveling the world with his parents as a kid developing a passion for reimagining antiques. He continues to discover and design the most unique finds with the goal of adding joy and one-of-a-kind style to a home. With Dina’s love for interior design and tenure in retail, brand partnership and events, she has evolved the brand into a perfectly imperfect oasis of Litt family antiques, shop-in-shops and experiential retail.

It’s becoming quite a Los Angeles designation, for a fresh take on antiques, heirlooms and like-minded brands, shop thoughtful gifts and home decor, check out their new Rug Room (with hundredes of rugs), sip specialty coffee or tea by The Boy & The Bear, design the most beautiful window treatments with the experts at Everhem. Explore design ideas, foster your creativity and happily get lost in Litt Concept House. Our goal is to create a place for people to gather and connect with a focus not only on design but their community. Coming soon… more inspiring home decor and lifestyle partners.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Re-imagining a brand that was successful for so many decades. Re-building and making it successful today. Retail has changed, and there are many challenges with brick and mortar. It’s hard to consistantly drive people into a store b/c people shop online and Los Angeles neighborhoods are so fragmented. We are working hard to become a destination for the design community and for the local community to shop and find joy and convenience in retail again. All while creating a robust e-commerce offering. We had no e-comm. when we purchased the business from Kevin’s parents.

Education: To foster a movement towards forever furniture, sustainable, quality furniture and appreciation for antiques. We see a trend of shoppers moving away from fast furniture and focusing on re-purposing pre-loved, antique pieces.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In every position I have had, who I surround myself with has always been important. Especially as an entrepreneur, it gets lonely. Not until we were able to start hiring contractors did I really feel like I had advisors and collaborators in general (other than my husband of course). However, once we found the right brand, email, social contractors the process and the vision really shaped up. I don’t really have one mentor for everything. I generally look to different experts for different things. Kind of like friendships, you can’t really find everything always in one person.
