Inspiring Conversations with Danica Rico of Rico Skin Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danica Rico.

Hi Danica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into the PMU/Skincare/Beauty industry began during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I experienced SA trauma at a young age that deeply impacted my self-esteem and the way I saw myself. In 2020, I felt called to start my healing process, and I leaned all the way into beauty and self-care as a way to rebuild my confidence and reconnect with myself.

A pivotal moment for me was getting my eyebrows microbladed for the first time in 2021, which was actually my husband’s idea. Apparently I complained about my eyebrows too many times. Lol.

It may seem like a small thing, but seeing that transformation in the mirror reignited a confidence in me that I hadn’t felt in a long time. In that moment, I realized beauty was so much more than appearance.. it had the power to transform how someone feels about themselves. That experience lit a fire in me and inspired me to help create that same confidence in other women.

I felt God turning my pain into purpose and calling me to help other women heal, rediscover their worth, and step into their confidence again. So I did the crazy thing, and spent thousands on permanent makeup trainings and a studio location without having a single client or clue about how to run a beauty business.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, I spent 13 years in the medical and dental field, where I developed a strong foundation in patient care, wound healing, and scientific precision. When I transitioned into beauty, I combined that experience with my passion for artistry and began building my business in permanent makeup and later on advanced corrective skincare.

Today, I’m a beauty entrepreneur, educator, and mentor, helping clients through corrective skincare and permanent makeup while also mentoring other beauty professionals.

What started as my own healing journey has become my purpose.. using beauty as a tool to empower women, restore confidence, and remind them of their worth.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh goodness no, probably the farthest from. People think “wow she’s lucky”, but they don’t see the sleepless nights, the imposter syndrome, and the many tears involved with being an entrepreneur. Not only do you overspend money without proper guidance, but you learn that it can really be a lonely route.

I expected to have more support from friends and family, but it’s hard to support what you don’t understand. Luckily my husband is very supportive, even if he doesn’t know exactly all my services and what I do. Lol. I also found a few other beauty entrepreneurs that I meet with regularly and we help ground each other when times get rough.

Unfortunately there are days when I still think that I’m not qualified, but then I pray and remember all that I’ve been blessed with so far. So not a smooth road, but bumps are a necessary part of the journey, and I’m really okay with that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I call myself a Paramedical Esthetician that specializes in corrective skincare and natural looking paramedical permanent makeup. My work is centered around helping clients heal, restore, and enhance their natural beauty through results-driven treatments that blend science, artistry, and advanced skin correction.

I specialize in results-driven corrective skincare, hair regrowth treatments, and paramedical tattooing services including stretch mark rejuvenation, scar revision, vitiligo camouflage, and natural looking permanent makeup. I’m passionate about helping clients address concerns that go beyond traditional beauty by offering treatments that not only improve appearance, but help restore confidence in areas where many people feel their most vulnerable.

What sets me apart is that I take a much deeper and more intentional approach than traditional beauty services. My 13 years background in the medical field and esthetics training gave me a strong foundation in patient care, wound healing, skin, ingredients and microbiology, which heavily influences how I approach every treatment.

I believe true transformation comes from understanding the root of a concern, creating customized treatment plans, and delivering results that are both beautiful and natural all while keeping the skin barrier healthy.

I’m especially known for creating soft enhancements and restorative treatments that help clients feel like the most confident version of themselves, whether that’s through natural permanent makeup, improving skin health, restoring damaged skin, or helping camouflage imperfections that may have impacted someone’s confidence for years.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise is that I’ve built a business rooted in God, healing, empowerment, and purpose. My brand was born from my own journey of rebuilding confidence, and every service I offer reflects that mission. I want people to know that when they come to me, they’re receiving more than just a beauty treatment, they’re stepping into an experience designed to help them heal, feel empowered, and walk away more confident than when they arrived.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
“Luck” isn’t real. You have to work your butt off and take care of any blessings you’re given. I’ve always worked myself to a point where I’ve been my own bad boss because I know exactly where I want to go in life.
