Hi Casey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Seeing my own children made me realize the depth of my feelings… I couldn’t imagine life without my girls. This epiphany sparked my newfound desire to help others. Becoming a lifeline for those who couldn’t conceive, my journey into the world of surrogacy has been nothing short of life-changing.

They say one small decision can change the trajectory of your life forever, and that statement couldn’t ring truer for me. I vividly remember the moment that changed my direction–seeing a friend struggle with infertility. Although she eventually had a successful pregnancy through IVF, I realized not everyone is so lucky. Many can’t have biological children without IVF or as a last resort, the help of a gestational surrogate. My deep love for my own daughters inspired me to become a surrogate.

The mission was simple: become a surrogate to help another deserving family experience the indescribable love we all feel the moment we see our sweet baby for the first time. With limited resources but many questions, I found an excellent agency and was matched with a wonderful family. I now realize that not every woman is so fortunate as to find a reliable and considerate agency on their first try. After my rewarding experience with surrogacy, I knew I had discovered my newfound passion and career. I focus on educating women about the surrogacy process, explaining how it should work, and outlining the steps that should be taken to ensure both the intended parents and the surrogate are well cared for. It’s crucial to have an agency guide you through this journey, but it’s important to note that not all agencies are created equal.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Was my journey smooth? Well, that’s a good question. For me, I would have to say it has been. I think I got lucky finding the right agency to work with. Being new to everything related to IVF and eager to understand the process, I frequently asked “why” and inquired about the next steps to feel confident as I navigated each phase. This helped me feel more sure about each step I took. I’d love to say that all agencies function identically, but that’s not the reality – a realization that became evident when I chose to enter the industry.

Conversations with numerous women who had previously been surrogates and were keen on undertaking another journey revealed the importance of a dependable agency. Without a thoughtful agency, I was essentially risking the well-being of my own family. Ensuring that the agency secured a life insurance policy for me, verifying that the trust account was adequately funded before commencing the IVF medication protocol, confirming my insurance was surrogate-friendly, and more was pivotal. Think of a good agency like a wedding planner. If they’re doing their job right, everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. But if you’ve been to a wedding without a planner, you know things can go wrong, like dancing to the wrong song or missing out on the cake.

Having been in this industry for 14 years, my primary takeaway is the indispensable nature of a competent and caring agency. Since not all agencies operate similarly, it’s vital to discern what differentiates each and what makes them a reliable choice. We’ve been impressed with Surrogacy Is, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As an experienced surrogate, I knew surrogacy should be about mutual understanding, empowerment, and teamwork. Spotting this imbalance, I was driven to make a change. Surrogacy is a shared journey, and every participant should have a voice and feel respected. Fueled by this belief, I joined forces as the Vice President and Co-Founder with Sunshine and Kyle, who founded “Surrogacy Is.” We envisioned improving the surrogacy experience, centering it on education, transparency, and respect.

We started as Surrogate Advocates, but our ambitions to empower surrogates pushed us further. We noted some agencies advocated for surrogates, but we yearned to give more. So, we expanded our reach and started our own agency, offering a vision that has not yet been seen in the surrogacy industry. We offer more comprehensive support to surrogates, giving them the choice of the agency that is right for them, along with education for both surrogates and intended parents.

As an advocacy firm, Surrogacy Is was created as a resource to truly advocate for and support surrogates—every step of the way. It may sound cliché, but I can’t overstate the invaluable mentorship I’ve received from my exceptional business partners, Sunshine and Kyle. We often refer to our dynamic team as “the triad,” each of us contributing a unique yet crucial element to our collective success.

Sunshine embodies the true meaning of an intellectual; she is the epitome of that word. She nurtured my growth in numerous aspects, including equipping me with the skills to craft exceptional emails. She taught me to appreciate the profound impact of well-chosen words. Her love for others and her desire to bring about change are truly special. I feel honored every day to call her my friend.

Then there’s Kyle, a man whose impact on me over these few years is indescribable. He brings a blend of tenacity, resilience, and perseverance that distinguishes our collaborative efforts. Kyle never ceases to broaden our horizons; he’s introduced us to helpful books written by seasoned entrepreneurs, offering a wealth of information to help build a successful company from the ground up. One of the first books that Kyle recommended was The E-Myth Revisited, where the author provided a tangible perspective on how to build a meaningful and successful company.

Sunshine and I refer to Kyle as the wizard behind the curtain, enabling us both to do what we do best: educate, celebrate, and support the amazing Superheroes who decide to embark on their surrogacy journey.
