Today we’d like to introduce you to Alena Shure
Hi Alena, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young child with health concerns, I was introduced to the power of alternate forms of healing after trying every Western medicine recommendation. CranioSacral was one of the modalities that I sought out, and through it, I eventually saw results for my health issues. I attended art school in San Francisco and received my BFA in photography; my background has always been in art. Since I was a child, I have found ways to use art as a form of healing, and I see the healing arts as another outlet for my creative expression. As an adult, I have been given “incurable” diagnoses, which took away any control I have over my health and my body. I believe that everyone can take their healing into their own hands and that we all have the power to shift our reality. We are told that the only tools we have are what Western medicine offers, and if those don’t work, then nothing will, and that is your reality. Your body always tries to heal itself, but external roadblocks often prevent healing. With my work, my goal is to give my clients the tools they require to regain their power and give them a sense that they can change their reality and heal their bodies.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think any small business owner will tell you it’s never smooth. For me, it definitely hasn’t been smooth. I believe anything you are passionate about comes with some struggle as well. It has to in order to ground you in reality. If you are dedicated to your craft and have an ongoing curiosity, there are inevitably going to be hurdles. The difference for me is taking those risky chances while also having the balance of trusting that I am on the right path. It will be hard, but it will work out as it is supposed to. It was a massive leap for me to leave the art world where I was comfortable and what I thought was going to be my path forever. I had to take that jump into the unknown, and it was a very harsh reality to enter a world with which I was not familiar. But I trust my path. My practice has given me freedom and security and allowed me to have the life I have always dreamt about.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Alena Grae Bodywork?
I specialize in CranioSacral Therapy, a light-touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. I use a very gentle, noninvasive touch to assess and redirect the CranioSacral rhythm with the intention of facilitating the body’s inherent self-healing mechanisms. I evaluate strain patterns in the body and use a gentle touch technique to release any restrictions.
Physical or emotional trauma, stress, or illness can lead to disruptions or restrictions in the CranioSacral system’s rhythm. These restrictions contribute to various health problems. I help the body to release these restrictions through delicate manipulation, allowing the CranioSacral system to function more optimally. Freeing the central nervous system allows for reduced pain and stress, creates lasting structural changes, and strengthens your disease resistance. CranioSacral takes a holistic approach to health, considering the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and emotions. Addressing imbalances in the system as a whole will inherently promote overall health and vitality with long-term results.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People are often surprised to learn that I do everything involved in running my business myself. This is a natural part of growing as a small business owner, but it is also something I do with intention from start to finish, I want to ensure how my clients interact with my brand is a cohesive and overwhelmingly positive experience. I view everything around me and in my business as art. I take all the things I do as an opportunity to be hands-on and involved in my business. From designing for marketing to designing the space in which I work. I love all these aspects just as much as practicing CranioSacral, and I pour my everything into my whole business, and I desire that to show.
