Hidden Gems: Meet Sasan Zarrin of Fractional Labs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasan Zarrin.

Sasan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began far from where I am today. I started out in sales—curious, competitive, and eager to understand people. Very quickly, I learned that the most successful solutions weren’t the ones with the flashiest features, but the ones that solved real human problems. That insight became the foundation of everything I’ve built since.

Over the years, I worked my way through some of the world’s leading technology companies—Oracle, Salesforce, and DocuSign—where I learned how enterprise systems scale, how teams align around data, and how to navigate global organizations. Those experiences taught me discipline, execution, and how to listen closely to customers in order to uncover what they truly need.

But I always had the entrepreneurial itch. I wanted to build, not just sell. My first major breakthrough came when I co-founded Xentury One, where we pioneered a human-focused approach to technology consulting—helping organizations reimagine themselves as scalable, technology-powered enterprises. From there, I founded Aipicus, focused on reshaping enterprise customer service with intelligent AI agents.

Today, I’m fully immersed in my latest venture: Fractional. It was born out of a frustration shared by leaders everywhere—spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports that are more burden than benefit. At Fractional, we’ve re-engineered reporting into something empowering, intuitive, and strategic, allowing decision-makers to act with speed and clarity.

Looking back, the common thread in my journey is: curiosity about people’s challenges, a belief in the power of technology, and the conviction that the best businesses are built at the intersection of data, process, and human behavior. I’ve had the privilege of building teams, raising capital, launching products, and learning countless lessons along the way.

Today, I balance building new companies, advising other entrepreneurs, and sharing my experiences. For me, entrepreneurship isn’t about chasing the next big thing—it’s about creating tools that make life and work meaningfully better.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. My career has taken me across industries and continents—working in the Nordics, the UK/I, the Middle East, and now the U.S. Each move brought both opportunity and challenge. Navigating different markets, cultures, and business expectations forced me to adapt quickly and develop a global perspective on leadership, growth, and execution.

Bootstrapping companies has been another defining challenge. Without the cushion of massive funding rounds, every decision matters. From hiring the first team member to landing the first customer, the stakes are high and resources are limited. It requires wearing every hat—sales, product, fundraising, even customer support—while maintaining the vision and momentum to keep moving forward.

There were plenty of obstacles along the way: building credibility in new markets, translating products across geographies, and managing growth without burning out people or cash. But those very challenges shaped how I approach entrepreneurship today. They reinforced the importance of resilience, creativity, and listening closely to customers to ensure we’re solving real problems.

If anything, the struggles have been my best teachers. They taught me that growth built on strong foundations—rather than shortcuts—creates companies that endure.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the founder of Fractional Labs, the company behind Fractional—a first-of-its-kind reporting platform designed to eliminate the chaos of spreadsheets and clunky dashboards. At its core, Fractional is built to empower leaders to make faster, clearer, and more confident decisions by transforming reporting from a tedious chore into a strategic advantage.

What makes us different is our philosophy: reporting should be effortless, actionable, and human-centered. Instead of forcing teams to spend hours stitching together spreadsheets or struggling with complex BI tools, Fractional streamlines everything into a simple, intuitive platform that integrates directly with the accounting and banking ecosystem. The result is reporting that’s not only accurate but also meaningful—helping leaders see patterns, uncover insights, and act decisively.

Our vision with Fractional is to democratize Business Intelligence for all businesses—making it possible for organizations of any size to make decisions based on data, without the traditional obstacles of costly and complex BI or analytics software. We believe every leader, not just enterprise executives with large budgets, should have access to actionable insights that drive performance and growth.

We specialize in serving modern decision-makers—executives, founders, finance leaders—who need clarity at speed. Early adopters have told us that Fractional feels less like a tool and more like a trusted advisor that keeps them focused on what really matters: growth, performance, and leadership.

What I’m most proud of is that we’ve built Fractional with a bootstrapped, customer-first mindset. Every feature comes from real-world feedback, every design choice is made to reduce friction, and every update is shaped by the goal of delivering measurable impact. Our brand stands for clarity, empowerment, and forward momentum.

For readers, the key takeaway is simple: Fractional redefines reporting for the modern era. We’re not just another dashboard—we’re building a movement to free leaders from data chaos and give them the clarity to lead smarter and scale faster.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve always believed that risk is an inherent part of growth—both personally and professionally. For me, risk isn’t about gambling; it’s about making informed decisions with conviction, often in uncertain environments, and being willing to take bold steps when the potential upside aligns with your vision.

Throughout my career, I’ve taken significant risks—both geographic and entrepreneurial. Moving across countries to pursue new opportunities in sales, consulting, and technology meant leaving familiar networks and comfort zones behind. Each transition required quickly adapting to new cultures, business norms, and market expectations.

Entrepreneurship has been an even bigger arena for risk. Founding companies like Xentury One, Aipicus, and Fractional meant betting on unproven ideas, bootstrapping operations with limited resources, and carrying the responsibility of both team and product success. Launching Fractional, for instance, involved building a first-of-its-kind reporting platform from scratch, competing with entrenched BI tools, and committing personal and financial resources long before the market validated our approach.

I view risk as a strategic tool, not a reckless one. The key is to balance ambition with preparation—understanding the potential pitfalls, testing assumptions, iterating quickly, and always staying close to real customer needs. Risk becomes manageable when it’s paired with resilience, adaptability, and a clear purpose.

In short, I see risk as the path to meaningful impact. The greatest opportunities I’ve had—and the most valuable lessons I’ve learned—have all come from taking calculated leaps into the unknown.
