Hi Robert, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Consulting 4K9’s about four years ago by training my own dog at the park. People began stopping to watch and asking for help, and I started working with dogs for free. As word spread through the community and my volunteer work with shelters and rescues, the business grew. I eventually outgrew training out of my home and opened a 5,000-square-foot facility here in Chatsworth, CA.. Today, I run Consulting 4K9’s Foundation, a nonprofit rescue foundation focused on rehabilitating, boarding and training shelter dogs, and preparing them for successful placement in forever homes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges with board-and-train rescue dogs is their unknown history. Many come in with trauma, fear, or inconsistent handling, which means progress isn’t linear. Each dog requires an individualized approach, patience, and strong structure to build trust while still keeping safety a priority.
