Hidden Gems: Meet Rachel Mcclusky of Recharge Wellness Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Mcclusky.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It feels wild to look back on how this all began! I was in music for my entire life and I always imagined that’s where I would end up. In college, I decided to teach Zumba classes at my local gym, having no idea that I would fall in love with teaching fitness. I took the leap and started teaching full-time, I have taught SO many different modalities, which ultimately led to The Recharge Method. I had a meditation practice that I was passionate about sharing, and in 2019 I decided to blend this meditation and my love for fitness to create what is now The Recharge Method. And because I have no problem being busy haha in 2017, I saw a gap in the wellness space for approachable, affordable women’s wellness events. I wanted to create a space for women to make friends, connect, and recharge. What started as day events in 2017 has turned into monthly events in different cities, weekend retreats all over the country, and a community all over the world. The fitness class and retreats blend so well together and I am truly so lucky to get to do this every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Gosh no! There have been so many challenges along the way, I have made so many mistakes and learned so much along the way. I have always been the type to just “figure things out” which definitely means trial and error especially when both of my businesses started really organically, I have had to forge a path and learn as I go. I will say I’m never afraid to ask for help and I’m so grateful for all of those who have helped and supported me along the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Recharge Wellness Company?
Recharge Wellness hosts events and retreats for women all over the country. Our goal is to create community and to foster connection for women in a really safe place. We truly believe that these events should be accessible and affordable as well as the go-to place if you want to make friends with like-minded individuals. I’m so proud of the community that we’ve built and the women who consistently come on every retreat and attend every event that we host. There is an absolute magic that happens anytime that these groups come together. We offer fitness classes, wellness workshops, adventure experiences, meditation practices, and more but ultimately it’s so much more than that. It’s about the community and connection that’s fostered at these events.

Everything is really created to focus on your mind body and spirit in a way that doesn’t feel impossible to tackle at a two-hour event or even a weekend. I offer virtual fitness classes so women from all over the world can join a class and most of those women end up on weekend retreats throughout the year!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
COVID-19 was one of the scariest times being a full-time fitness instructor at a brick and mortar studio, I was furloughed from my job and at that time was not doing Recharge Wellness or the Recharge Method full-time. It really pushed me to offer virtual retreats, events, and virtual fitness classes which ultimately led me to taking these passions full-time. A friend of mine said it felt like we were all thrown into the deep end of a pool without knowing how to swim and I couldn’t relate to that more but I am so grateful for my resilience during that time. I just wanted to help people and bring them a movement that felt good in a really scary time which ultimately cultivated an incredible community
