Hidden Gems: Meet Pablo Escutia of KKC Fine Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pablo Escutia.

Hi Pablo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our story began over two decades ago in the South Bay, where our I trained under the guidance of renowned builder Kim Komick. Those early years provided not only hands-on construction experience but also invaluable mentorship in the art of coastal building — from navigating complex soil conditions to crafting residences that truly reflect the lifestyle of this community.

Building on that foundation, KKC Fine Homes transitioned to a design-build firm dedicated to delivering custom luxury homes in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach. Over the years, we’ve grown into a trusted partner for homeowners, architects, and designers, known for balancing technical expertise with uncompromising craftsmanship.

Today, KKC Fine Homes is more than a builder. Through our extended ecosystem — including Coastline Rentals and Coastline Concierge — we provide a complete experience that extends beyond construction to property management and care. While our services have expanded, our commitment remains the same: to reimagine what’s possible and create homes that stand as legacies for generations.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any meaningful journey, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. Building in the South Bay comes with unique challenges — tight coastal lots, strict city codes, complex HOA requirements, and the constant battle with coastal soil conditions. Early on, learning how to navigate those obstacles was as important as the actual building.

We’ve also faced the same realities that every builder encounters: shifting market conditions, labor shortages, and the occasional unforeseen site condition that requires creative problem-solving on the spot. These challenges taught us the value of adaptability and built the foundation for the systems we use today.

What has carried us through is the mentorship we received early on, the talented team we’ve built, and our unwavering commitment to our core values: transparency, trust, and an open-door policy with both employees and clients. We believe that clear communication and collaboration are just as critical as craftsmanship, and those principles have allowed us to foster long-term relationships and consistently deliver beyond expectation.

Every obstacle has ultimately sharpened our process and strengthened the KKC Fine Homes brand — allowing us to not only create homes that stand the test of time, but also build a culture of integrity and trust around every project.

We’ve been impressed with KKC Fine Homes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At KKC Fine Homes, we specialize in luxury new custom residences and high-end renovations throughout the South Bay. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and collaboration — we don’t just build homes, we bring design visions to life.

We honor the intent of every design team, whether projects are created in-house or by leading architects. As stewards of that vision, we ensure each detail is executed with precision. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with world-renowned firms like EYRC Architects and Takashi Yanai, partnerships that have both challenged and elevated our craft.

Just as important is the way we serve our clients. We are not mass builders — we are custom builders. We carefully select the projects we take on, focusing on client relationships built on transparency, trust, and open communication. This client-driven approach allows us to deliver not only beautifully built homes but also a process defined by confidence and clarity.

Most of all, we are proud that every KKC Fine Homes project is more than a house — it’s a legacy. A reflection of design, detail, and collaboration that stands the test of time

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people are surprised to learn that my original background was actually in architecture. I’ve always had a passion for design and the creative side of shaping spaces. Construction wasn’t part of the plan at first — it happened by chance after a run-in with Kim Komick following a job interview for a local design company. That meeting changed everything, and from there, history really wrote itself.

Starting on job sites gave me a hands-on education in building that paired perfectly with my design roots. Over time, that blend of design sensitivity and practical construction knowledge became the foundation for KKC Fine Homes. It’s why today we’re able to not only honor the visions of architects and designers but also execute them with precision and care.

Another thing people may not realize is how client-focused and selective we are. We don’t chase volume — we’re custom builders, and we intentionally take on only a limited number of projects. That approach lets us stay true to our values of transparency, trust, and detail, while giving each client the experience and attention they deserve.
