Hi Nayra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
“Quiero que estudien y tengan sus propios negocios,” said my parents, Antonio and Imelda Gil. From a young age, my parents ingrained in my siblings and me the belief that education and entrepreneurship were crucial for our success. Their journey to America, filled with challenges in the deserts of Mexico and the United States, fueled their desire for us to be self-reliant and prosperous.

Starting my own business was one of the ways I sought to honor my parents. I was driven to prove that their sacrifices were not in vain. As I ventured into entrepreneurship, I realized that I wanted to create my own pathway and contribute to society in a meaningful way. I knew I had to do it through treating acne and implementing my social activism nature within the skincare industry.

During my freshman year at Cerritos College, I began to notice changes in my skin. Initially, I observed whiteheads and blackheads on my forehead that would appear, disappear, and then reappear. Over time, these blemishes progressed and spread across my face. Upon transferring to UCLA, my struggle with these breakouts became more noticeable. I was experiencing inflamed breakouts, hard cystic bumps, and I eventually learned that I was dealing with the skin condition known as acne.

I have struggled with persistent acne for years, which led me on a search for solutions, from consulting dermatologists and experimenting with different skincare to seeking the expertise of skin specialists. This journey not only shaped my entrepreneurial endeavors, but also fueled my determination to understand and address this skin condition faced by many. No matter what I tried, I found myself continually grappling with the burden of acne. Frustrated with skincare and treatment methods that were not working for me, I made the decision to enroll in esthetician school, I had a deep desire to take on the challenge of understanding and healing my own skin from within.

Acquiring a state license to treat skin conditions like acne had been a goal I longed to achieve. Although I gained enough knowledge during my schooling to pass the state board exam, I felt that there was still more to learn. This led me to pursue additional courses that included topics such as acne, skin health, skin of color, holistic healing , soul searching, God seeking and caring for myself in a way I never knew I could. It was during this educational journey that everything began to align and interconnect for me.

I came to acknowledge that acne, including my own, is not solely a surface-level issue, but is deeply intertwined with internal and external factors. From stress, trauma, diet, medication, lifestyle choices, hormonal imbalances, nervous system interruptions, irregular sleep patterns, and exercise routines – I discovered that all aspects of our daily lives play a significant role in influencing our skin. This realization fueled my commitment to adopting a holistic approach to heal the skin internally and externally.

Implementing this holistic philosophy in my work with clients has empowered me to guide them towards achieving the radiant, healthy skin they desire. Furthermore, witnessing the positive transformations in their personal lives beyond just their skin has brought immeasurable satisfaction to my craft. Witnessing my clients’ progress, as they reclaim their confidence, pursue their aspirations, and focus on their personal development, serves as a constant reminder of the profound impact of my work.

Above all, I attribute my success to God and my family, but also to the unwavering support of those who have walked alongside me, providing encouragement and guidance during my journey. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have faced various challenges on my journey. My expertise comes from working education and in the healthcare field. Previously, I focused on counseling college students and mentoring the youth, and engaging in social activism by providing resources to people of color in need of housing and case management support.

Transitioning to the beauty industry was a significant shift for me. It involved acclimating to a different culture and learning the specialized language used in this world. The way I previously worked and cared for others differed from the approach required in the beauty industry, where I had to master the art of caring for people’s skin in a unique way.

Additionally, venturing into entrepreneurship introduced me to a whole new set of challenges. While I was accustomed to different business models from previous ventures, creating my own business required an entirely different approach. Establishing the foundation and blueprint for my business was a daunting yet rewarding task. I have always strived for perfection, but I have come to understand that in the world of business, flexibility and adaptability are crucial. My previous experiences have equipped me with skills such as critical thinking, customer service and time management, enabling me to provide top-quality service to my clients.

In addition to investing in my academic pursuits, I have also dedicated myself to personal growth and sought guidance from business coaches, which has proved immensely beneficial for me. This is the best thing I’ve ever done. Running my own business has been an incredibly rewarding journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Through this experience, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about myself and evolve to better navigate the difficulties of both my professional and personal life.

One of the most significant aspects of this journey has been the unwavering support and guidance that I’ve received from my father, Antonio Gil Moctezuma. His extensive expertise in business and his continuous mentorship have been crucial to my success. I am genuinely thankful for his influence in my life and feel incredibly blessed to have him as my father. I’ve encountered numerous challenges and setbacks along the way, from setbacks in my business to personal trials. Through it all, my father has ingrained in me the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on life. His words of wisdom have resonated with me, especially during the toughest moments, reinforcing the idea that resilience and grit is key to overcoming obstacles in business and in life. He’s the reason why I hustle hard. He’s showed me that anything is possible in life. I truly admire and love my daddy!

Furthermore, we are committed to support aspiring entrepreneurs in the beauty industry, and we aim to grow our support by creating additional scholarships to support their tuition, supplies, and cost of living. Moreover, we are most proud of the transformations our clients achieve in healing their acne, which is a challenging but a rewarding journey. Our brand emphasizes both internal and external healing, and we cherish the entire process, acknowledging both the good and difficult times. Creating meaningful relationships with our clients and treating the skin comprehensively is important to us. We specialize in detailed skincare routines and treatments tailored for skin of color, and our acne program has successfully addressed various skin concerns through the use of eastern medicine healing, different modalities, acids and skincare techniques. How do you think about luck?
In both my personal life and business endeavors, I don’t attribute success or failure to luck. Instead, I firmly believe that it’s hard work, determination and unwavering perseverance that pave the way for achieving one’s aspirations. I believe that hard work and resilience are the driving forces behind achieving one’s goals and aspirations. Working intelligently rather than exhaustively is vital to me, as it allows me to be in sync with my own energy and my own creativity.

Furthermore, I place immense value on cultivating meaningful connections with the people around me. I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by friends and clients who radiate positivity, happiness, authenticity, love and warmth towards me. Their respect and unwavering support create an environment that enlightens me, reaffirming the notion that I am precisely where I am meant to be. This nurturing space empowers me to continue progressing in my journey through life. Whenever life presents challenges or unexpected events, I’ve learned to look at them as opportunities for growth rather than misfortunes. I firmly believe that in any situation, I possess the power to choose between dwelling on the challenges or seeking solutions and alternatives. The human mind’s incredible power never ceases to amaze me, it reminds that we have the power to rewire our brain and create new notions and perceptions on life.

I seek His guidance and blessings to lead me along the path that aligns with His greater plan. I trust in his divine will that everything has a purpose and and I am meant to go through certain things and cross paths with certain people. Instead of depending on luck, I rely on my own resilience and unwavering faith. I am confident that with the presence of God in my life, a strong and positive mindset, a healthy body and a loving community to support me, I have all the tools I need to navigate life’s ups and downs.
