Hidden Gems: Meet Morissa O’mara Hollander of Gavens + Costino Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morissa O’mara Hollander

Hi Morissa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a proud LA native with roots in this city that span three generations. I spent years working in the entertainment industry before earning my master’s degree in teaching and transitioning into education. During that time, I realized I wanted more control over my career and growth—something that would keep me connected to the people of Los Angeles in a meaningful way. That’s when I made the shift to real estate. Now, I have the privilege of working with an incredible team of women who are making an impact across the city. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to collaborate with such a positive, knowledgeable group while also helping amazing buyers and sellers navigate their real estate journeys.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s always something new to learn in real estate—whether it’s understanding different neighborhoods, navigating ordinances, managing inspections, or mastering pricing strategies. Quite literally, every aspect of the industry is a continuous learning experience. One thing I’ve noticed is that even agents with 20+ years of experience are still learning, which I find both inspiring and motivating. It keeps everyone on their toes and ensures we’re always evolving to serve our clients better.

As you know, we’re big fans of Gavens + Costino Group . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As a Real Estate agent, what sets me apart is my commitment to building deep, meaningful connections with my clients. Buying or selling a home is one of the most personal and significant financial experiences a person can have. No matter how seamless a transaction may be, emotions are always involved, and I take pride in being a trusted guide—listening, supporting, and navigating every step of the process alongside my clients.

As an LA native, I have an intimate knowledge of this city, particularly the Westside. I specialize in Holmby Westwood, Mar Vista, Century City, Cheviot Hills, and Brentwood, allowing me to provide expert guidance tailored to each neighborhood’s unique nuances. Helping my clients successfully close on a home and knowing I was there for them throughout the journey is incredibly rewarding.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Putting myself out there and making new connections can be intimidating, especially knowing there’s no guarantee it will lead to something meaningful. But I’ve learned that the worst that can happen is hearing a simple “no,” and that’s a risk worth taking. Every opportunity starts with a leap of faith, and embracing that mindset has allowed me to grow, build relationships, and continue evolving in both my career and personal life.
