Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikey Swiman & Nate Levin.
Hi Mikey Swiman & Nate Levin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We began our journey not as business partners, but as two close friends navigating the challenges of addiction and recovery. Both having experienced the struggles firsthand, we understood how critical it is to have a safe, structured, and supportive environment during the recovery process. After the tragic loss of a close friend to addiction, we were driven to create something meaningful in his memory—something that could help others avoid the same fate.
In 2019, we opened our first sober living home with a clear mission: to provide a secure, stable, and welcoming space for men committed to sobriety. What started as a single home quickly grew through dedication, lived experience, and a deep commitment to helping others. Today, Donny’s House has expanded to four homes, all built around a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
At Donny’s House, we have created more than just housing—we’ve built an environment centered on accountability, structure, and peer support. Through regular UA and breathalyzer testing, 12-step–based guidance, and hands-on leadership from on-site House Managers, residents are given the tools they need to rebuild their lives. Just as importantly, the homes foster genuine relationships among residents, creating a brotherhood rooted in recovery.
Our story is one of transformation—turning personal hardship into purpose. By combining our own experiences with a passion for service, we continue to grow Donny’s House into a place where men can find stability, connection, and a real path toward lasting sobriety.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been far from smooth for us . Like many businesses, we faced significant challenges early on—but ours came at a particularly difficult time. After opening our first house in 2019, we were just beginning to build momentum when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Almost overnight, everything changed. Many people were hesitant to enter sober living, uncertainty was high, and maintaining occupancy became a real struggle. At times, it put us in a position where we nearly had to close our doors entirely. Financial pressure, combined with the responsibility we felt toward the residents who depended on us, made it an incredibly stressful period.
Beyond the external challenges, building a business from the ground up while staying committed to our own recovery added another layer of difficulty. We had to learn quickly, adapt constantly, and stay grounded in our mission even when things felt uncertain.
Despite these obstacles, we pushed through. Our belief in what we were building—and the importance of providing a safe place for people in recovery—kept us going. Those challenges ultimately strengthened our foundation, shaping Donny’s House into what it is today.
We’ve been impressed with 4D Sober Services LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Donny’s House is a sober living organization built by people who have lived through the very challenges our clients are facing. The organization was created with the mission of providing a safe, structured, and genuinely supportive environment for men in recovery. What began as a single home in 2019 has since grown into four residences, each centered around accountability, community, and long-term sobriety.
Donny’s House specializes in creating a balanced approach to recovery—combining structure with real human connection.
What truly sets Donny’s House apart is the authenticity behind it. We are both in recovery ourselves, and that lived experience shapes the culture of the homes. It’s not just about rules—it’s about understanding, mentorship, and creating a brotherhood where residents feel seen, supported, and motivated. The relationships built inside the homes are a core part of the recovery process, and that sense of community is something we take great pride in.
As a brand, Donny’s House stands for second chances, accountability, and growth. We are most proud of the environment we’ve built—one where men can come in at a low point and leave with structure, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose. More than just sober living, Donny’s House is a place where lasting transformation begins, and where individuals are given the tools and support to truly rebuild their lives.
What does success mean to you?
We define success not by numbers or expansion alone, but by the impact we have on the lives of the men who come through Donny’s House. For us, success is measured in changed lives—when someone arrives broken and uncertain, and leaves with structure, purpose, and the ability to maintain long-term sobriety.
Success also means creating a consistent, safe, and supportive environment where accountability and brotherhood thrive. It’s about seeing residents build genuine connections, take responsibility for their actions, and grow into stronger versions of themselves. Every milestone a resident reaches—whether it’s staying sober, finding a job, repairing relationships, or simply showing up each day with commitment—is a reflection of that success.
On a broader level, success is staying true to our mission. Despite challenges, growth, and the demands of running a business, we measure success by our ability to maintain the integrity of what we’ve built: a place rooted in lived experience, compassion, and real support.
Ultimately, success for us is simple—it’s knowing that Donny’s House is making a meaningful difference and giving people a real chance at a better life.
