Hidden Gems: Meet Mary Ramos of Bodyology Sculpting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Ramos.

Hi Mary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been in the medical field for over ten years. I began this journey of changing careers a few years ago due to the difficulties I was having juggling my life while working a full-time job and being a parent and a college student pursuing a nursing degree. I knew starting my own business would give me the flexibility I was yearning for at the time, so when I entered the field, it felt like the ideal fit because it was very similar to what I had been doing for so many years in the medical field, which was helping people.

I have always been attracted to anything that has to do with wellness, fitness and beauty. When I was looking for non-invasive treatments to help me target some specific areas of my body that were difficult to target with diet and exercise alone, I was introduced to body sculpting and lymphatic drainage treatments. I fell in love with the treatments and results and then decided to do my own research on how these techniques worked. As I continued to learn more about the treatments, I came to the conclusion that this was a new career path I wanted to pursue in order to assist people who were in a similar situation to myself by offering effective non-invasive alternatives. The treatments I was receiving at the time weren’t as well-known as they are now and it was difficult to find specialists in my area. I wanted to be the person who people turned to for these incredible treatment options, so I enrolled in training courses to be able to fully comprehend the science behind the treatments and be able to offer the service myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Though not the easiest, the road has undoubtedly been very rewarding. It’s never easy, in my opinion, to embark on a new career path or business venture because it’s something new, but if you want it to succeed, you must be prepared to face the obstacles that arise along the way.

I’ve always operated the company as a one-woman show and I had no prior business experience when I started. I started out slowly, worked on my business concept for many months, and began providing services to a small number of clients while I was still balancing my full-time job at a clinic and going to school. I knew that in order to really give it my all, I had to take some risks and so I quit my 9–5 job eventually to devote all of my time to expanding the business and taking on more clients. This was risky for me because I had a job that provided a very stable income. Knowing that I couldn’t rely on this income was initially somewhat unsettling, but I feel like everything just fell into place when I took this step because of my strong faith and my distinct vision and mission for the company.

I consider myself very fortunate that the company received a lot of attention at an early stage because it was a novel treatment being provided in the region and customers were extremely pleased with the outcomes. From that point on, I began to receive numerous recommendations from my clients, and some of them even agreed to let me post pictures of their before-and-after results on Instagram, which made more clients want to make appointments with me.

Since then, Bodyology Sculpting has provided services to over 600 clients, something I am extremely proud of.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Here at Bodyology Sculpting our main goal is to always help our clients achieve the best result as well as guiding them in maintaining their results. We keep in mind that every body type is different and we customize each treatment based on this.

Each treatment is carried out differently depending on our client’s goals and serves a specific purpose, such as diminishing fat, body contouring, tightening loose or sagging skin, reducing the appearance of cellulite, and detoxifying the body through the lymphatic system.

As we work with each client to achieve their desired look, we keep in mind that we must first help them feel and look good from the inside out. To help flush and get things flowing naturally, we work closely with the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is used by our unique techniques to help the body detoxify itself by removing toxins, water retention, inflammation, and stagnant fluid. This technique has a significant impact on our efforts to enhance our general well-being and appearance. We incorporate additional modalities, such as wood therapy, ultrasound cavitation, cupping, radio frequency, endermotherapy, and infrared sauna detox wrap, as needed.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality that I believe is most crucial to my success is my willingness to keep growing and avoid getting comfortable in the present because there is always room for development. In order to become the best at what I do and be able to offer my clients the best services, I am constantly willing to learn new things and advance my education. Trial and error are the only way to learn and so over the years, I’ve picked up a variety of skills to help me master my craft.

My overall success has been largely attributed to three things, most importantly remaining humble, being kind, and acting from a place of love.
