Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie LaPlaca.
Julie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I spent years working in the entertainment industry as a television producer. Most notably, I was a Supervising Producer on The Bachelor franchise for seven years. I worked closely with the leads, traveling the world and asking them deep, vulnerable questions about love and what they desired for their lives. Somewhere along the way, I realized I had never asked myself those same questions! When my contract was up for renegotiation and my bosses were discussing my two-year plan to eventually run the show, I impulsively quit. I was in my mid-thirties and realized I was working toward something I had no desire of becoming. Ironically, all my years helping shape others’ love stories had left me neglecting my own.
Leaving was far from glamorous. I was trying to navigate what was next for me after walking away from a job that had become my identity. What followed was a journey for love, as I flipped the script and began asking myself the vulnerable questions I had always shielded my heart from in the past. I began studying hypnotherapy, energy healing, and a variety of somatic modalities. Through my studies and my own healing journey, I learned how powerfully our past stories try to shape our present—and how the subconscious mind will do everything it can to keep us repeating old patterns.
Over time, I broke through old blocks and reconnected with myself in a way I never had before. I started writing as a new form of creative expression that was also deeply healing. That journey led to my memoir, The Love Producer, which comes out this July. The book is structured almost as if I’m the Bachelorette on my own journey for love. You’ll hear about the chaos of trying to find love while producing it, getting caught up in the fairy tale I helped create, and the supporting characters who crossed my path along the way. It’s a modern-day love story that I hope empowers women to break through shame and heartbreak, choose and love themselves, and fully step into their power and own their voices.
Now, as The Love Producer, I blend my storytelling background with the holistic modalities I’ve studied to help guide women who are ready to break free from old scripts, step into the leading lady role of their lives, and embark on their own journey for love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Reinvention after leaving something you’ve known for so long can be difficult. It’s incredibly tempting to go back to what feels familiar and safe. Even though I knew I was meant for something more, I had to constantly quiet the voice in my head that questioned whether I had made a mistake. The mind can be your biggest villain. I worked through a lot of fear and shame, trying my best to ignore the opinions of others who didn’t seem to understand why I left a “dream job.” I confronted how deeply I had been conditioned to believe that work had to be hard, and that I needed a normal job with a consistent paycheck. I think many creatives struggle with that push and pull between societal expectations and the inner calling of the heart.
On a practical level, I was officially diagnosed with ADHD last year. Once I left a job that had built-in structure, I realized how challenging it was to create that structure for myself. Without external accountability, finishing projects was overwhelming and I let everything distract me! It wasn’t until I got a book deal with a hard deadline that I finally completed my manuscript—after one too many all-nighters that brought me back to my high school days of staying up all night to finish a project.
The book actually began as a fictional rom-com idea loosely based on my life that I pitched to studios around town. I received great feedback but was disappointed when it didn’t sell. At the time, it felt like a roadblock. Looking back, I can see how it redirected me toward sharing my real story instead. As a reality TV producer, I know the truth is far more compelling! That pivot ultimately led me not only to write my memoir, but also to build the business I have today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the founder of The Love Producer, a coaching and personal development brand. I guide women to step into the leading lady role of their lives and produce the love they desire, from the inside out. After years producing love stories on television—and then embarking on my own journey—I realized how often women are unconsciously living inside old scripts shaped by their personal backstory, societal conditioning, heartbreak, and the roles they learned to play to feel safe or accepted.
Through a blend of coaching, hypnotherapy, and somatic modalities, I work with clients to uncover the subconscious narratives that have quietly been running the show, so that we can rewrite them going forward. What sets me apart is my producer and storytelling background. I believe we are all the stars, producers, and writers of our own love stories. I am passionate about helping woman unlock the leading lady energy within themselves so they can attract the love they desire—not just romantically, but in all areas of their lives.
My memoir, The Love Producer, coming out this summer, shares the backstory that led me here. More than a brand, my hope is to spark a movement where we can all become producers of love in this world. It all begins with the greatest journey of all: the journey of going within and connecting to the love that has been there all along.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Everything is energy, and it’s important to protect yours. As you grow and elevate your consciousness, that may mean shedding people, places, and jobs that no longer align with who you are becoming. Be mindful of this, and surround yourself with people who uplift you, motivate you, and support your dreams. Also, in the words of Mel Robbins, let them think what they are going to think! You can spend so much time consumed by the fear of judgement, but those fearful thoughts only delay you from achieving your goals. Once you release the fear, live fully in your truth, and surrender to love, life becomes much more fun!
