Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Afriat.
Hi Jason, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Motion LA started very organically. It did not begin as an agency or even a business idea. It started with community.
We were hosting small workouts and meetups around Los Angeles, mostly just bringing people together who were into growth, wellness, creativity, and connection. Over time those gatherings got bigger. Brands started showing up. People started asking who put it together and how they could be part of it.
That is when it clicked for me. What we were doing was not just hosting events. We were creating energy, moments, and experiences that people actually wanted to be part of.
From there Motion LA was born. We took the same mindset we used for our own community and applied it to brands. Instead of traditional marketing, we focused on experiential marketing that makes people feel something. Pop ups, activations, brand moments, and experiences that spark real connection and get people talking.
Today Motion LA works with brands to bring their ideas to life in a way that feels authentic, memorable, and human. We are very hands on, very creative, and very intentional about building experiences that go beyond just showing up. Everything we do is about creating momentum, building community, and making brands unforgettable.
At its core, Motion LA is still about the same thing it was at the beginning. Bringing people together and creating moments that matter.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road.
In the beginning, the biggest struggle was figuring everything out while building in real time. We were creating experiences, growing a community, and learning how to turn that into a real business all at once. There was a lot of trial and error, a lot of late nights, and a lot of moments where we had to bet on ourselves without any guarantees.
Another challenge was getting people to understand what experiential marketing really is. It is not just events. It is strategy, storytelling, logistics, creative direction, and execution all working together. Early on, that meant educating clients while still proving our value.
Cash flow and scaling were also real challenges. Experiences take time, people, and resources, and learning how to price properly, say no to the wrong projects, and build systems took work.
But those struggles shaped everything. They forced us to get sharper, more intentional, and more confident in who we are and what Motion LA stands for. Looking back, none of the growth would have happened without those hard moments.
As you know, we’re big fans of Motion LA. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Motion LA is an experiential marketing agency built around one core idea. Brands grow faster when people feel connected to them.
We specialize in creating immersive experiences that turn attention into community. That includes pop ups, brand activations, launches, corporate events, and cultural moments that live both in real life and online. We handle the entire process from creative ideation and experience strategy to custom fabrication, design, buildouts, staffing, and full on site execution.
What truly sets us apart is that we do not just build the experience. We bring the people. We know how to invite, curate, and fill a space anywhere. People show up because they want to be there.
We are also the only community backed experiential marketing agency. Motion LA did not start as a service offering. It started as a real community that we built ourselves. Because of that, people want to be wherever we are. There is trust, energy, and momentum baked into everything we create.
What we are known for is experiences that feel alive. People do not just walk through them. They participate in them. We design with flow, emotion, and human behavior in mind so every moment feels intentional and memorable.
Brand wise, what I am most proud of is that Motion LA feels authentic. We do not chase trends or copy what others are doing. We focus on originality, storytelling, and creating moments people genuinely want to be part of.
What I want readers to know is that experiential marketing is not about throwing an event. It is about creating a feeling, a memory, and a reason for people to come back. That is what Motion LA does best.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is creating momentum with people. Seeing an idea start as a thought, turn into something real, and then watching people experience it together.
I am happiest when I am building something that brings people into the same room. Whether that is a brand activation, a community event, or a moment that sparks connection. There is something powerful about shared energy and shared experiences.
I also get a lot of happiness from growth. Personal growth, creative growth, and watching people around me level up. Helping others connect, create, and feel inspired gives my work meaning beyond just business.
At the end of the day, happiness for me comes from impact. Knowing that what I am building brings people together and leaves them feeling better than before.
