Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayley And Zoe Slifstein.
Hi Hayley and Zoe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We are Hayley and Zoe Slifstein, the sisters and co-founders behind Glow Pilates LA! Although we are originally from New York, we ventured out west together to pursue our passion for health + fitness, which eventually led us to undergo and receive a comprehensive Pilates certification! We took a risk and opened up Glow, our first reformer studio, in June of 2024. Now, being open for one year officially, we are so proud of the amazing community we have built up, and are so grateful to be able to share our love for Pilates with others!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The first five months as studio owners was tough! As we were the only two instructors in the studio, we taught all of the classes. From 7 am until 7 pm, we ran classes daily. Safe to say we practically lived at the studio! Many people don’t realize how physically taxing fitness instruction can be, and many times it does feel like you’re putting on a performance for your clients (in the sense of being energetic and continuously talking to cue through exercises!) When you teach 4-5 classes daily, Monday through Sunday, it adds up! Once we finally started forming a strong team of instructors around month six, we were able to grow out the schedule more and take a bit more time for ourselves. Now, we proudly have a team of 12 instructors (which is always growing!) who are ready to deliver you amazing Pilates classes!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Glow Pilates LA is a reformer Pilates studio located in the heart of West Hollywood. We specialize in contemporary Pilates with an athletic touch, and we aim to create a challenging workout that will push you to grow stronger and feel like your best self. Our classes focus on a higher rep count to build the burn and challenge endurance throughout the various muscle groups. We pride ourselves in fostering a warm, welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy Pilates. As a sister founded business, we hope to make you feel like family in the studio!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Every 4th of July our parents would throw a huge pool party at our house! The whole neighborhood would come, the food would be endless (we loooove a good cook-out hotdog), and all us kids would swim all day and then sleep like babies. It was the best, and we looked forward to the party every year growing up!
