Today we’d like to introduce you to Donya Delsouz.
Hi Donya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The story of All Borrow began long before I became an entrepreneur, it started with the way I grew up. I was born in Iran, where borrowing from family, friends, and neighbors was simply part of everyday life. If someone needed a dress, a dish, or even a sewing machine, they’d just borrow it from someone nearby. It was community in its purest form, a Borrowhood.
When my family immigrated to Canada and later to the U.S., that spirit of sharing and access stayed with me. Years later, in 2022, I launched All Borrow, a rental business focused on Indian formalwear after realizing how difficult and expensive it was to find authentic, high-quality outfits for weddings and celebrations. The goal was simple: make it easy for people to access beautiful clothing without the cost or waste of ownership. That business grew quickly across the U.S. and Canada and continues to thrive today.
Through that journey, I saw a much larger opportunity, the same challenges existed far beyond clothing. People wanted to rent furniture, décor, tools, electronics – yet there wasn’t one trusted place that connected renters and businesses seamlessly.
That realization led to the next chapter: All Borrow is now evolving into a full-scale rental marketplace for all consumer goods, connecting small and medium-sized rental businesses with renters across the nation across all categories. We’re bringing the concept of “Borrowhood” to life on a national scale, helping people access more, waste less, and build community through sharing.
The marketplace officially launches in 2026, and we couldn’t be more excited to redefine how people experience products, not by owning more, but by borrowing better.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I don’t think it ever is when you’re building something from scratch. I learned very quickly that running a rental business isn’t just about fashion or logistics, it’s about timing. Every order is tied to an event, and one delay can create a domino effect for every rental after it.
There were countless nights where I’d literally chase down UPS drivers or drive all the way to their hub – sometimes even to the airport where their cargo flights were shipping out – trying to convince any driver kind enough to take my packages… Now I’ve built such close relationships with the drivers that they know me by first name basis and they text me everyday with their final pick-up times and locations!
It sounds wild, but those moments taught me that there’s always a solution if you’re determined enough to find one. The process forced me to become incredibly resourceful and resilient. It taught me to stay calm under pressure, think creatively in chaos, and never give up, because there’s always a way forward. Those lessons became the foundation for how I now approach building All Borrow.
As you know, we’re big fans of All Borrow. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
All Borrow started as a South Asian clothing rental company, offering customers a way to rent luxury Indian outfits for weddings and celebrations without the high cost of ownership. Today, we’ve become one of the most trusted and loved Indian clothing rental brands in North America, known for our curated collection, high-quality service, and commitment to making cultural fashion more accessible.
Now, we’re taking that success and scaling it into something much bigger. In 2026, All Borrow will expand into a full-scale rental marketplace for all consumer goods – from event décor and furniture to fashion, tools, electronics, and sporting gear. The Indian clothing business will continue as India’s Closet, one of the anchor brands on our new platform, while the larger marketplace connects renters and small to mid-sized rental businesses nationwide.
What sets us apart is our ability to bring quality, trust, and affordability together. We’re creating a space where people can rent anything they need with confidence, knowing they’ll get reliable service, well-vetted products, and a seamless experience from start to finish. We’re also deeply focused on sustainability and reshaping consumer behavior, helping people embrace access over ownership in a way that’s practical and rewarding.
Right now, we’re known for redefining the Indian clothing rental experience. In the near future, we want to be known as the go-to place for all things rental — the marketplace that changed how people access what they need, while empowering small businesses to grow.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that All Borrow feels personal and human. It’s not just a business; it’s a movement inspired by my roots. Growing up in Iran, borrowing was a part of everyday life, families shared everything from clothes to cookware. That spirit became the foundation for The Borrowhood, a modern way to bring that same sense of community and sustainability to a larger scale.
We want readers to stay tuned for the launch of All Borrow as a marketplace for all consumer goods, We want them to know that All Borrow isn’t just about renting; it’s about reimagining how we live – saving money, reducing waste, reducing clutter and connecting people through a smarter, more sustainable way of consuming. Because why buy when you can borrow?
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t really believe in luck, I believe in the power of delusional optimism and what you attract through your thoughts. I’m not religious at all, but I am very spiritual, and I truly believe that your mindset shapes your reality.
When I first started this business, everyone thought I was crazy. I heard it all: “No one rents,” “There’s no market for Indian clothing rentals,” “It’s not a real business.” But I believed in it anyway. I saw the future before it existed and poured everything into making it real.
And once you set your mind to it, you stay positive despite the obstacles, stay persistent and resilient, somehow it all works out! So if people call that luck, then maybe luck is just relentless faith in disguise.
