Hidden Gems: Meet Brandon Perez of Kondor Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Perez.

Hi Brandon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I went to my first Warped Tour in 2007 and immediately fell in love. I felt like I was home and knew one day I would join the tour. Fast forward to 2011, I saw a classmate post that he needed help at his new venue. I missed the first meeting due to still being in high school but pushed and pushed and finally got another opportunity. I was told to get two bands to perform for that weekend and I went home and stood up all night contacting over 50 local bands. The next day I had the slots booked and four other bands ready to sign up for our next event. Soon after joining that company, I met another agent who took me under his wing and we hosted shows all over Southern California and hosted some of the biggest local festivals. We booked 100+ bands on the Queen Mary, Seaport Marina, Pico Riviera Sports Arena and more!

In 2017, I got the call to make my dream come true, to join the entire summer Vans Warped Tour. I did it, everything I ever worked for was paying off. But before I left for the tour we found out my brother had cancer, I didn’t want to leave his side as he was in his final stages. I talked to him about it and his last words were what pushed me to never give up on our music. To always go after your dream and never listen to what anyone tells you. I went out there with him in my heart to make him proud and show him what I can do. After a couple of years of touring, I returned home with a mission. Give back to everyone who has helped me reach my dream. I’ve completed everything I’ve wanted to do, now it’s my turn to return the favor to those who believed in me. I’d be nowhere without my locals. Together, anything is possible. There Is No Competition, Only Community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Would anything every truly pay off if the road was smooth? Some of the biggest challenges were getting new venues to expand and help locals reach new areas. Trying to work with other promoters was sometimes problematic due to most of them being hard-headed with the “why would I want to collaborate on a show when I can do it myself” mentality. Trying to change an industry where people have to fight for what they want or prove what they are worth is something I never understood. I’ve always been on the side that we are brothers, we need to stand together and support each other. Without support, our music scene will fail. And that is something I have always held true since the start.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are Kondor Entertainment, a So Cal based booking agency looking to help locals get their music heard! We mainly curate shows that will draw an audience in. We often will host a heavier show that will have lighter bands at the start to help widen a band’s reach. Sometimes people who are there for the first band who is metal will fall in love with the last band who is hardcore. Kondor’s main goal is to help locals in any way we can by booking events, getting photographers to shows, and connecting bands with graphic designers, and we even print merch! There is no competition with Kondor as we are a community-based company. Anyone is able to join or help! Drop us a message if you want to jump on a show or even chat about what your next step as a band should be! We are Kondor Entertainment, a company made for our Local Scene.

How do you define success?
Personally, success is what makes me feel fulfilled. I’ve had countless events where I felt it was a success even when I left the show in debt. I do what I love for the love of it. Not to make a quick dollar. Success is seeing the band you booked last year as an opener is now headlining shows and seeing them tour.
