Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra de la Garza
Alejandra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Alejandra, I am 32 years old and originally from Monterrey. Mexico. Growing up I was always a very active kid, not much into sports but more into the artistic version of active. Gymnastics, ballet, and dance classes of all kinds. When I moved to the USA in 2015, I knew I needed to keep up with my lifestyle and the first thing I did was try to find dance classes, those were to expensive for me at the time and I was to new to the city to know where to go, I opted for finding a gym, luckily the one I found, had the most fun hip-hop group classes. But of course, like many young women, I had insecurities and definitely engaged in body shaming. My intention at the gym used to be focused on improving the way I looked. Through the years, I worked on increasing my confidence and changing perspective, learning that working out goes further than the way it changes the body on the outside.
When I realized that fitness is also (and mostly) about the physical and mental health improvements that come with regular practice, I really started loving the gym and staying active for my overall health.
In 2019 I found aerial silks, and it quickly became a method I felt passionate about. I practiced this and ballet for a couple of years in San Francisco before moving to Los Angeles.
In 2022 I moved to LA, I felt like I was really missing something. My entire life changed due to very complicated personal reasons (long story short: divorce.) I was going through all of this away from family and even down to losing my aerial silks practice. It was a low point. And that is when the opportunity of becoming a certified VXN Workout Instructor came to me. During my most vulnerable time, I found the strength to find joy in movement again.
Becoming a VXN Instructor gave me purpose. I was again able to dance through complicated feelings and had an outlet on difficult days. VXN gave me my confidence back, made me feel alive and capable again. Somehow I found myself again through this electrifying dance method and the journey as an instructor has been a blessing since then.
This workout method is known for its pulse-pounding choreography set to the hottest beats, creating a high-energy atmosphere. A total life changer, when you find a workout that you enjoy and empowers you. I find that the combination of weightlifting and VXN is the perfect mix of strength training and cardio, and both are incredibly empowering.
My goal is to help as many women as I can, to uncover the better version of themselves, not just physically but mentally too. I hope to provide workouts they look forward to and challenges them to grow and empower themselves. I am so lucky to have found the most beautiful, growing community. We are not just working out, getting healthier and stronger together, but building valuable friendships.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the hardest part has been trying to grow a community around a workout method such as VXN, that has worldwide visibility, yet it’s not very well known in Los Angeles. As an instructor, and being new to LA myself, it can be hard not having many friends and basically starting the VXN community from ZERO. Finding the right studio to teach was also a challenge. VXN has such a special vibe, the studio environment had to match the COMMUNITY I wanted for my classes and my new students.
VXN workout is so powerful that despite challenges in growing the class and getting to more people, I already know it’s changing lives. Here’s an example of a message from a client:
“Oh my gosh, that’s the most me I have felt in forever. Thank you so much. All the sadness and heaviness melted away and I feel my sparkle again”. – VXN insider.
This is why I do this, for what this method does for others. Getting these types of messages is what keeps me working hard to expand this community and help many more women find/grow their light.
We’ve been impressed with FitStudio Arts, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created FitStudio Arts as a way to centralize both my passions as a Fitness Instructor under one name.
Currently FitStudio arts offers Weightlifting Training at my private gym and VXN Workout (dance fitness) focused on women, yet open to anyone and everyone who would want to dance like no one is watching.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ve been fortunate to cross paths with amazing people that became mentors along the way in my fitness journey.
Studio and gym owners that opened their doors to me just based on a good conversation and mutual respect. They’ve taken me in and given me the opportunity to prove myself. I have learned so much and every day I’m working on improving as a fitness instructor, both on the dance floor and at the gym.
