Today we’d like to introduce you to Vicky Hang.
Hi Vicky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Nguyet Hang, and I go by Vicky. I’m the owner of Lavie Bella Head Spa. We’ve been open since July 2025, but I’ve been in the cosmetology field since 2012, starting with nail work for friends. More recently, I’ve been focused on head spa treatments and specialized scalp work since 2023.
My road to becoming a full-time business owner in LA didn’t happen overnight. I was born in Vietnam and grew up on a farm in the rural countryside of Lam Dong. From the early age of seven, I learned the values of family and community — often preparing meals for my family all day while they worked in the fields, and cleaning the house for when they returned home in the evening. We learned to be resourceful among the neighboring farms too. Sharing crops like corn, coffee, and rice, and even our community water well, shaped who we were. A community-oriented approach to everything became our identity.
That identity carried me through my journey to the United States. I came in 2011 as a single mother of two with a desire to build a better future for my children. Today, my life is a transformational inspiration to them and a testament to what’s possible. I am now a U.S. citizen, a proud mother of four wonderful children, wife to my business partner and husband Dustin, and owner of Lavie Bella Head Spa — where we create memorable experiences and transformational services for our guests.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth at all. When I first came to the United States, I came alone. My two children were still in Vietnam, and it took two years before I was able to bring them here. Being a single mother in a new country, separated from your kids — that was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I had to believe in my heart in what I was building, even when there was no evidence of it in front of me.
But that time shaped me in ways I didn’t expect. It bred a focus and a desire that pushed me to excel in every opportunity that came my way. I worked in nails, I learned the business, I studied for my cosmetology license — and I treated every single day like it mattered, because it did. That period taught me something I still carry with me: appreciate opportunity when it arises, because what we do each day has a strong compounding effect over time.
It wasn’t until years later that I saw how that openness to opportunity would change everything. I noticed the growing popularity of scalp care and head spa treatments, and something clicked — my years in cosmetology, my understanding of hair and scalp health, and my desire to create meaningful experiences for people all pointed in the same direction. That’s when the vision for Lavie Bella started to take shape.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lavie Bella Head Spa. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Lavie Bella Head Spa is a scalp health studio in Artesia, California — a new kind of space that combines luxury head spa experiences with science-backed scalp care. We specialize in scalp treatments, scalp massage, and personalized scalp health programs for guests dealing with buildup, dryness, stress-related scalp issues, or just the need to truly disconnect.
What sets us apart starts with how the space is designed. Every service takes place in a private room — not behind a curtain or on an open floor like most head spas. It’s a completely different level of comfort, and our guests notice it immediately. We also offer private group reservations where parties can book the entire spa for themselves. Birthday groups, bachelorette parties, couples date nights, corporate team outings, girls’ nights — we accommodate groups of up to ten at a time, and it’s become one of the things we’re most known for.
What I’m most proud of is that Lavie Bella reflects who we are as a family. My husband Dustin and I built this together, and the values behind it — warmth, community, real care — are the same ones I grew up with in Vietnam. We’re not just another head spa. We’re a scalp health studio where you don’t just feel refreshed — you look refreshed.
What are your plans for the future?
We’re still in our first year, and honestly, we’re just getting started. The biggest thing we’re building toward is our scalp health program — a system where guests receive a detailed scalp analysis, a personalized treatment plan, and structured follow-up sessions so they can actually see their progress over time. It’s not something you’ll find at other head spas, and we’re really excited about what it means for our guests.
Beyond that, we want to keep growing our roots in Artesia. This community has welcomed us from day one, and we want to give back — through local partnerships, events, and being a real part of the neighborhood, not just a business that happens to be here.
