Exploring Life & Business with Ashleigh Dawson of Recycle2Riches

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Dawson.

Hi Ashleigh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Founder and President of Recycle2Riches. This was started when I was 19, seeing the waste in the fashion industry I just had to do something. That’s when R2R started as a DBA, transforming and re-designing clothes that are already out there. Now we are a nonprofit that has a global mission to change the culture of consumption through communication collaboration and community education!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. This is a one woman act and this Roll can get very difficulty sometimes. I was never supposed to be a Business owner. When I was younger, I was labeled dyslexic and had to fight for my intelligence. Most of my teachers told me I’d just be a warehouse worker or a cashier. So just to start my company was a struggle. I struggle every day in the office trying to spell my emails correctly and work so hard to prove my intelligence… but lately, I’ve been ok with just being me and breathing through the hard times.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Recycle2Riches?
R2R is focused on changing the culture of consumption by educating our community on ways to consume consciously. As a 501(c)(3), we are able to accomplish this in many ways. R2R supports brands that make a difference in protecting the earth and all those that inhabit it! We provide our community with products, solutions, and knowledge that are totally sustainable and ethical. We offer collaboration, communication, and community education on our current linear production system. Through these changes, we believe we can eventually transform the current culture of consumption into a closed-loop, circular economy.

We have a long-term goal as a non-profit to create off the grid, closed loop communities that will serve as a circular model for others around them. This is an evolving mission as we discover new and innovative solutions. Our founder, Ashleigh Morgan, often discusses the idea that everything can be something and a solution is always out there.

Staying connected and fully transparent is crucial in fostering conscious consumption. Please don’t hesitate to reach out through our contact page with any questions.

What’s next?
MISSION FOR R2R CLOSED-LOOP COMMUNITIES

We have a long-term goal, as a non-profit 5o1(c)(3), to create off-the-grid, closed-loop communities that can gradually change the culture of consumption and improve the microclimate around them.

Through carbon sequestration and regenerative farming, we can change the microclimate around these communities.

R2R will build these communities in low air quality, low-income areas to fight environmental racism as well as redlining in America and around the world.

By partnering with low-income buildings, we can bring regenerative solutions for sustainable infrastructure development!

Our top priority when building will be to work with the Indigenous communities that are already living in the area. Using the 17 SDGs as our main guidelines and having the earth ships by Michael E. Reynolds as a model for our homes will allow us to replicate these communities on a global scale.

Here at R2R, we will always be following corporate social responsibility, finding new ways to define CSR, and raising the qualifications for ISO(International Organization for Standardization)… As of 2022, we will be a sustainable directories as well as an online marketplace!
