Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Martin.
Hi Rebecca, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started running a Club Pilates studio for another franchise owner back in 2017. I loved what I did and grew to oversee five studios as a Regional Manager. Each day I got to do something a little different, build a team and work with people. I loved it. Come 2020 and my husband and I found out we were pregnant with our now two year old little beautiful soul, Asher. For those of you who are parents, you know when the little people join your world, everything changes. We quickly found that we needed me to be in a position with much more flexibility and where we could work together as a family unit. Born was the idea of becoming a franchise owner so I could do for us what I was doing for someone else. We started this route about a year ago and it has been quite a journey. We found our spot on PCH & Loynes but had so many construction delays that although we were supposed to open in October, we are now set to open in December. It has truly taught us patience but has also shown us just how much our community is showing up for us and there to support us through it all. We have met so many incredible humans and our studio is going to be the most spectacular due to the individuals who will be coming to practice with us. We believe in a welcoming environment and creating an inclusive safe space. We have over 300 founding members signed up and ready to take classes when we open at the end of this month. How incredible is that?
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We ran into construction delays that set us back over two months, ugh! We also had a challenging time finding a space in the Long Beach area that could accommodate our floor plan for our studio. However, people are beautiful and amazing and we are thriving and ready to open late this month!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
YogaSix Long Beach is here to offer variety in your movement routine but bigger than that, we are here to support each individual with where they are at. We have six different core classes and have several other bonus class formats. We have our 101 class ready to help with the fundamentals. Our restore class for stretch. We have our slow flow class which is a slow vinyasa based, our Hot class which is a set sequence, our power great for endurance and our sculpt & flow class which incorporates weights. Some of our bonus classes are TRX fusion, mix, and slow jams! Talk about variety!! However, what is a great variety of classes without an extraordinary culture behind it? We strive to create a community within our four walls where we can be your home away from home. Where connections are made, support is given and people feel comfortable to be 100 percent their amazing, unique, and authentic self. Our biggest goal is to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels seen and heard. If people want to join our community, please reach out, we would love to connect!
What makes you happy?
My son, my family, my dog/cats, friends, movement, sunshine, in no particular order. I love connecting with people if it is my family, friends, or a new human. I feel energized when I am able to get to know and relate to someone on a deep level. Movement has always been a love of mine as I grew up as a dancer and appreciate the incredible human body and all that it does for us.
