Exploring Life & Business with Nishu Lathwal of Social Nix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nishu Lathwal

Hi Nishu , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was 19, one of my closest friends gifted me a book that would unknowingly change the course of my life—Rich Dad Poor Dad. At the time, I didn’t fully realize its impact, but as I read through it, something clicked. I realized that I didn’t just want a traditional career. I wanted freedom—freedom of time, money, and, most importantly, the ability to create something of my own.

But life doesn’t always align with our dreams. My parents had always wanted me to go into medicine, and out of love for them, I pursued a para-medical degree. While studying, though, I couldn’t ignore that feeling inside me. I started learning about marketing and business on the side. I even tried launching a clothing business in India, but it failed. It stung, but it taught me resilience.

My next step was starting a skincare business online. It did well enough, but deep down, I still felt like there was more I could do. That’s when I got serious about social media. I started an Instagram page, purely for motivational quotes, and within 5 months, I grew it to 40k followers. I ended up selling the page, and that’s when I realized—this is where my strength lies.

Around this time, I was nearing the end of my degree, and I had a decision to make. Go down the traditional path that my family expected of me, or take the leap and follow what I knew I wanted to do. It wasn’t easy, but I chose to walk away from the medical field and start my own social media marketing agency.

It hasn’t always been smooth, but I’ve learned that growth comes from discomfort. Today, I lead a team of 25, and together, we’re working to help businesses grow through social media content and strategy. But the real success, for me, was realizing that sometimes, it’s okay to go against the grain and pursue what truly makes you feel alive.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think people choose entrepreneurship expecting it to be easy. I always knew it would be hard, but honestly, it was even tougher than I imagined. Starting a business while still in college was challenging—my friends would call me boring because I didn’t go out to parties. Instead, I was working every day on my business, trying to balance it all.

One of the hardest parts was starting without any funding. I’ve always wanted to make my parents proud, so I never asked them for financial help. For the first six months of running my agency full-time, every penny I earned went toward paying my staff and covering rent. I made sure to save a little because I believe every business should have an emergency fund.

I still remember the struggle of getting that first client. Without a strong personal brand at the time, it was incredibly hard to gain trust. My partner and I would send hundreds of emails and DMs, trying to get people on a call. On top of everything, I had to teach myself how to be good at sales. It was a steep learning curve, but every challenge taught me something valuable.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business, Socialnix, is a social media marketing agency that helps businesses grow through strategic content and marketing. We specialize in working with small businesses and mid-size businesses, creating tailored strategies that focus on long-term growth and authentic engagement. What really sets us apart is our dedication to building not just a following but a community around each brand we work with.

We offer a wide range of services, including social media management, content creation, paid ads, influencer marketing, website development, SEO and client acquisition strategies. Whether it’s creating eye-catching social media posts, optimizing ad campaigns, or building a consistent brand presence, we ensure that each piece of content speaks directly to the audience and aligns with the brand’s goals.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the personalized attention we give each client. It’s not just about creating content—it’s about understanding the story behind the brand and helping that story connect with people on a deeper level. We make it a point to work closely with our clients, providing them with a hands-on approach and ensuring they feel supported throughout the process.

At Socialnix, we believe that success comes from a combination of strategy, creativity, and genuine connection. It’s not just about the numbers—it’s about building a brand that people can trust and engage with. We’re proud to have helped our clients grow and reach their goals, and we’re excited for what’s to come.

What are your plans for the future?
Since I moved to Dubai last year, I’ve been focused on growing my agency even further. One of my big goals is to expand our services to include full content creation from start to finish. I’m planning to bring in talented photographers and creators with experience in real-time content creation. This will allow us to create viral content for brands that feels authentic and helps them grow organically, while also cutting down on their ad spend.

I’m working on building a team of people who really understand content and what makes it go viral. It’s not just about flashy videos—it’s about creating something that connects with people and feels true to the brand. I’m really excited about this because even bigger brands will be able to tell their stories in a way that resonates with their audience.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this new direction helps both smaller and larger brands find their voice and grow in an organic, sustainable way.
