Exploring Life & Business with Nick Ramirez of The Ramriez Agency at Goosehead Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Ramirez.

Nick , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Nick Ramirez was born and raised in Los Angeles — not just geographically, but culturally. His family is native to LA, and the city shaped him early. From neighborhood businesses to Friday night lights and long baseball seasons, he grew up deeply connected to the pulse of Southern California. He’s a lifelong Dodgers fan, the kind who still believes in loyalty, legacy, and building something that lasts.

Before insurance, Nick built his professional foundation in hospitality — working for Red Butler, an online global concierge company serving clients around the world. There, he learned the true art of concierge service: anticipating needs before they’re spoken, solving problems discreetly, operating with precision, and delivering excellence without friction. It wasn’t about transactions — it was about experience, trust, and responsiveness.

That mindset never left him.

When Nick transitioned into the financial and insurance world, he brought concierge-level service with him. While many see insurance as transactional, Nick saw an opportunity to elevate it — to treat risk management the way a concierge treats a client’s life: thoughtfully, proactively, and personally.

Entrepreneurship and technology became natural extensions of that philosophy. Fascinated by systems, innovation, and scale, Nick began building not just a book of business, but a platform-driven approach to service. Today, as Agency Owner of Goosehead Insurance in Los Angeles, he leads a team of nine agents as of February 2026 — mentoring them to think beyond policies and premiums, and toward strategy, protection, and long-term relationships.

In a California insurance market that has become increasingly complex — wildfire exposure, regulatory shifts, carrier contractions — Nick operates as an advisor, not a salesperson. His local roots give him an instinctive understanding of Los Angeles neighborhoods, housing stock, and risk profiles. His hospitality background ensures that clients feel guided, not sold.

The concierge mentality he developed at Red Butler — anticipate, protect, execute — now drives the agency’s culture. It’s a standard of service that blends old-school relationship building with modern technology and strategic thinking.

At his core, Nick is still that LA kid who believes in loyalty, leadership, and building something meaningful in the city that raised him.

For him, this isn’t just business.

It’s home.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Not entirely.

In 2021, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It was one of those moments that quietly reframes everything. Thankfully, it was caught early. With proper treatment and discipline, I’ve remained symptom-free and without progression for several years now, and I’m proud to say I’m currently in remission — something I don’t take for granted.

What most people don’t know is that I went through that season quietly. There were no big announcements. No public updates. I kept my head down. I focused on my health. I focused on the agency. I showed up for my team and my clients the same way I always had.

Running a growing business while managing a health diagnosis forces clarity. It sharpens priorities. It reinforces the truth that health is wealth — without it, nothing else matters. That experience strengthened my discipline, my perspective, and my gratitude.

It wasn’t easy. But it made me better — as a leader, as a business owner, and as a person.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Ramriez Agency at Goosehead Insurance. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At its core, my business is about protection — but not in the generic sense. We don’t just sell policies. We architect risk strategies.

I own and operate a Goosehead Insurance agency in Los Angeles, where I lead a team of nine agents serving clients across California and beyond. We specialize in homeowners, auto, umbrella, high-value property, life insurance, and complex specialty placements — particularly in challenging California markets where wildfire exposure, carrier exits, regulatory shifts, and tightening underwriting have made insurance one of the most strategic financial decisions a homeowner can make.

What sets us apart isn’t just access to carriers — though we have deep market access on both the admitted and surplus sides. It’s our mindset.

My background in concierge hospitality at Red Butler, a global online concierge firm, shaped the DNA of this agency. We anticipate needs. We communicate proactively. We simplify complexity. Insurance is often treated as transactional and reactive. We built our brand to be strategic, relationship-driven, and long-term focused.

In California, you simply can’t afford a passive insurance advisor. We are known for navigating difficult placements — hillside properties, brush exposure, Fair Plan layering, surplus lines structures — and explaining them in plain English. We operate at the intersection of technical underwriting knowledge and human clarity.

Our work and perspective have led to features and commentary in major national publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Business Insider, ABC News, and Yahoo Finance, where we’ve contributed insight on the evolving insurance landscape and the realities of today’s housing market.

And on a lighter note — one of the more unique policies we’ve handled? We insured the Wu-Tang Clan’s one-of-a-kind album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. Not your typical homeowners policy.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the culture we’ve built. My team doesn’t think like salespeople. They think like advisors. We focus heavily on retention, proactive coverage reviews, re-shops when appropriate, and making sure clients aren’t just checking a box — they’re properly structured and protected.

We’ve grown in one of the hardest insurance markets in the country because we leaned into education and strategy instead of fear. When carriers pulled out and rates increased, we didn’t panic — we adapted.

What I want readers to understand about our brand is simple:

We are local. I was born and raised in Los Angeles.
We understand this market because we live in it.
We operate with concierge-level service.
And we treat protection like a long-term relationship — not a one-year transaction.

Insurance isn’t exciting until you need it.

Our job is to make sure that when that moment comes, our clients are grateful they chose us.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was definitely an extrovert. I’ve always been comfortable talking to people, connecting, and getting involved. I wasn’t the quiet kid in the corner — I liked being in the mix. I joined clubs, participated in organizations, and naturally gravitated toward leadership roles. I enjoyed being part of something bigger than myself.

Personality-wise, I joke that I embody more “golden retriever energy” than “black cat energy.” I’m optimistic, approachable, loyal, and high-energy. I like bringing people together. I like momentum. I like movement. Even today, that energy translates directly into how I run my agency — collaborative, positive, and forward-focused.

A big influence in shaping me was my parents. My father has been a CLSW for over 40 years — a clinical social worker who built a career helping people navigate life’s hardest seasons. My mom, rest her soul, was a banker. So I grew up in a household where one parent focused on emotional intelligence and human behavior, and the other focused on numbers, structure, and financial discipline.

I often joke that when you have a therapist and a banker as partners, it makes for a great insurance agent.

From my dad, I learned how to listen. From my mom, I learned how to think in terms of financial impact and long-term stability. Insurance sits right at the intersection of both — understanding people and protecting their financial lives.

Interest-wise, I’ve always been active. I enjoy working out, going to the gym, getting outside for walks and bike rides. Movement clears my head. Sports have always been a big part of my life too — especially the Dodgers. Being born and raised in Los Angeles, that loyalty runs deep. Baseball seasons mark time for me.

Looking back, the extroversion, the involvement, the optimism — combined with the influence of a therapist and a banker at home — created the foundation for how I lead today. Relationship-driven. Financially strategic. Grounded. Loyal.

At my core, I’m still that energetic LA kid — just with more responsibility, perspective, and purpose.
