Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Bird
Hi Kate, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember. It all started with snapping photos on my phone, but getting my first camera was truly life-changing. What began as a hobby, capturing moments for friends, soon grew into something more when their friends started requesting paid photoshoots. That’s when I began earning my first income through photography. Along the way, I participated in several competitions and found real joy in being part of the photography community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first shared my dream of becoming a professional photographer with my grandparents, they expressed concern, feeling it wasn’t a serious or honorable career choice. Encouraged to pursue something more traditional, I ended up studying economics, earning two master’s degrees in economics and international business. For years, I balanced the “serious” career with my passion for photography, which was exhausting. It felt like I was juggling two full-time jobs. But last March, I made the bold decision to leave my office job and fully embrace photography. Now, I’m not only earning double what I used to but also experiencing so much more happiness and fulfillment.
We’ve been impressed with Kate Bird Photography , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a photographer with a passion for capturing portraits, weddings, and family moments. In addition to these specializations, I also engage in social and art projects that explore diverse themes and perspectives.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I was lucky enough to meet all the wonderful people who supported me and encouraged to be a photographer.
