Hi Esmeralda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Beauty Creations at the swap meets with no investors, mentors, or a roadmap. I was driven by my desire to succeed and my passion for beauty. Growing up with a single mother shaped me, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a business owner. Entrepreneurship has always been part of who I am. My very first business was reselling Barbies, which taught me early lessons about value and laid the foundation for what would eventually become Beauty Creations. Today, Beauty Creations has grown far beyond what I could have imagined in those early swap meet days. We are now available in over 48 countries, partnering with major retailers such as CVS, H-E-B, Hot Topic, and more. We operate our own retail stores along with a team of over 100 employees on the corporate side. While I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, I truly feel like we’re just getting started and there’s so much more ahead.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the early days, one of our biggest challenges was cash flow. We completely bootstrapped the business, starting at swap meets and reinvesting every single dollar we made back into Beauty Creations. Even as we began to see success, we stayed in the swap meets longer than people might expect. We only stopped selling there about five years ago. Those years required lots of sacrifice, patience, and a strong belief in what we were building.

Another major challenge was learning how to navigate the more complex side of running a growing company. I didn’t have mentors to guide me, so I was learning as I went. Transitioning from a small business into a corporation came with a steep learning curve. Understanding tax regulations, building the right legal and financial teams, and handling responsibilities that no one really prepares you for as you scale.

Those struggles were overwhelming at times, but they also shaped me as a founder and leader. They taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of continually learning. Looking back, those challenges were critical to building the foundation that Beauty Creations stands on today.

What truly sets Beauty Creations apart is our commitment to innovation at an accessible price point. Growing up loving beauty, I always felt that great makeup shouldn’t be a luxury; it should be high quality, affordable, and available to everyone. That belief continues to guide everything we do. We create products that perform, feel premium, and allow people to express themselves without barriers. From shade ranges to product development and storytelling, we design with a diverse, real community in mind.

We’re also known for our fun, nostalgic licensing collaborations, which have become a signature part of the brand. Collections like Betty Boop, Goosebumps, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Barbie allow us to merge beauty with pop culture in a way that feels playful, creative, and emotionally connected. These partnerships resonate deeply with our community and reflect our belief that beauty should be fun.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is staying true to our mission as we grow, continuing to offer accessible, inclusive, and innovative beauty while building a brand that people genuinely connect with. I want readers to know that Beauty Creations is built with heart, purpose, and our community in mind. We are always evolving while staying rooted in who we are.
