Hi Diana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Diana Madrigal, and I am a psychic medium. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and from a young age, I felt a deep connection to the spiritual world. My abilities began to manifest more clearly in adulthood, around the age of 30, but my fascination with all things spiritual started much earlier. As a child, I was drawn to everything from witch movies to daily astrology readings, trying to predict my week. I admired shows like *Sabrina the Teenage Witch* and movies like *The Craft* and *Practical Magic*. Whether it was a way to escape a rough childhood or because I admired powerful women, I always felt different from most kids and knew I was meant to help people at a larger scale. I had an innate ability to feel and sense spirit from a young age, but with no real-life role models to guide me, I was often left confused and scared—especially at night when I saw shadows.
Growing up in a Catholic Mexican-American household and attending private Catholic school, religion played a significant role in my life. We attended church every Sunday, and I often heard my grandma praying the rosary at every *velorio*. This deepened my fascination with the afterlife. However, it wasn’t until my early 30s that I experienced my first channeling session. I was hanging out with friends one night, and after a few drinks, I suddenly asked my friend’s husband if his grandfather had gifted him a 1920s leather baseball mitt. His reaction was one of shock—he looked pale and quickly walked away. Moments later, he returned with his phone, asking me to describe the glove in detail. When I did, he showed me a picture on his phone of the exact glove I had just described. We were all blown away by what had happened. It felt like word vomit, with all these details spilling out of me, yet I had no idea where they were coming from.
Just two days later, my sister called to tell me about a session she had with a healer named Pat Longo. During the session, Pat told my sister that I needed to see her and that my abilities were about to unfold. My sister had no idea what had happened two days earlier, making this moment even more serendipitous. I immediately contacted Pat, and that’s when my spiritual journey truly began, as I started tapping into my mediumship abilities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely had its bumps. While the journey has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t always been smooth. One of the biggest challenges was losing friends and family members who didn’t approve of my gifts. Growing up in a traditional Catholic household, spirituality outside of religion was often misunderstood or even frowned upon. When I began to fully embrace my abilities, some of the people closest to me couldn’t understand or accept it, leading to strained relationships and, in some cases, complete disconnection.
Another significant struggle came during a time when I was going through a divorce and experiencing what felt like a soul death as I embarked on my healing journey. I carried so much grief as I let go of a version of myself that no longer aligned with who I was becoming. The process of personal healing was not easy, requiring deep introspection and facing painful experiences from my past. It was emotionally challenging but necessary for me to genuinely help others.
Overcoming self-doubt and learning to trust my abilities was also a major hurdle. In the beginning, I was afraid of what I was experiencing, and it took time to accept that these gifts were real and meant to be used for good. There were moments when I felt isolated, unsure of how to navigate a path so different from what I’d been taught growing up.
Building a practice and gaining the trust of clients took time as well. In the early stages, there were moments of uncertainty, wondering if I was on the right path or if people would truly benefit from the work I was doing. But with persistence, faith, and the support of those who believed in me, I was able to overcome these hurdles and grow both personally and professionally.
These struggles have been part of the process, teaching me resilience and reinforcing my commitment to this path. Each challenge has made me stronger and more empathetic, allowing me to better understand and assist others on their journeys.

One thing I wish I knew when I was starting out is the importance of self-care and boundaries. When you’re working with energy and emotions, especially those of others, it’s easy to become overwhelmed or drained. Learning to protect your energy and take time for your own healing is crucial. Don’t be afraid to say no or take a step back when you need to recharge.
Another key piece of advice is to avoid comparing yourself to others. Everyone’s abilities are unique to them, and what works for one person might not work for you. Trust that your gifts and your journey are exactly what they need to be. Embrace your individuality, and know that your path is just as valid as anyone else’s, even if it looks different.
Building a business in this field can also be challenging. It requires not only honing your spiritual skills but also learning how to manage and market your services effectively. Building a business takes a lot of patience and guts. Don’t be discouraged by slow growth or initial difficulties. Persistence, adaptability, and a clear vision for what you want to offer will help you build a strong and successful practice over time. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek support. It’s true what they say: the best investment you can make is in yourself.
It’s also important to find a supportive community or mentor. It can be isolating when you’re exploring something that others in your immediate circle might not understand or accept. Surround yourself with people who share your interests and can offer guidance, encouragement, and support. Having a mentor or experienced guide can also help you navigate the challenges and uncertainties that come with this path.
Be open to continuous learning and growth. The spiritual path is one of constant evolution, and there’s always more to discover about yourself and the world around you. Don’t be afraid to explore different practices, teachings, or modalities until you find what resonates most with you.
