Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Freeman V.
Hi Charles, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It was either 9th or 10th grade, and I needed a new Instagram handle. My friend suggested the term “Aristocrat” based on how I would carry myself. After really looking into the word and what it meant, I felt as if the definition pertained to a specific era. At the same time, I knew there was a way it could be implemented into modern society. Aristocrats were nobleman ranked under the king. You had to be born into Aristocracy in order to obtain the status and benefit from its advantages. With the freedoms we have here in the United States, you don’t necessarily have to born into a high-ranking family in order to achieve an “Aristocratic status”. I redefined the word as “Someone who takes control and initiative of their future, despite the circumstance.” Despite any religion or spiritual beliefs one may have, being under God is the highest status one can be. I want people to see my brand name/logo and associate that with the thought that we the individuals are now responsible for creating our high rank. And anyone can do it. Fashion as a whole is a big part of people’s identity. Even if words aren’t used, what you put on your body represents what you stand for. Anything I create is intended to make people feel like they are their best. Always.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh man, the only thing smooth in this life is water! Every day presents new obstacles. I’ve been running the brand since 2016 but it wasn’t until 2020 that I decided to take it seriously with purpose. Which was a very tricky time, yet the perfect time. Keeping the brand relatable while connecting with ALL people is what I must maintain.
As you know, we’re big fans of AristocratV5. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m known for expressing myself in a way that allows vulnerability. Just being me. That shows people there’s so much power in showing up as yourself. When it comes to the arts, I specialize in creating things that are timeless, quality, and universal. The biggest thing that sets me apart from others, I’d say, is my commitment and purpose. At the end of the day, the best results anyone can see for themselves come from being authentic and trusting the process. I’m very proud and honored to see people implement the brand’s motto of “Esse Quam Videri” into their lives. It is Latin for “To be, rather than to seem.”
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
I’m now 24. Being 20 through 23 during Covid was very interesting. The times weren’t normal; life as we knew it for so long completely changed. And we had to adjust. Coming out of the pandemic, I learned how quickly what’s so normal can be completely reversed. For folks my age, I ultimately saw how it raised a lot of concern about the future. Old systems were now integrating into new ones which put GenZ at the forefront of what’s to come.
