Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Tucker
Hi Carolyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After many years of buying and traveling the world , merchandising and a long tenure in the fashion industry, I felt it was my turn to be behind the creation of my own label. All the years of grinding, the highs, the lows and all the woes brought me to this chapter. Initially thinking of a lot of cool and unique fashion inspired names nothing felt quite right to encapsulate the I had vision for the brand, until I landed on Care Tucker Short for Carolyn it is an endearing nick name given to me throughout my life by friends and family. It also embodies the brands desire to promote caring for others!
When deciding how I would move forward with the brand, I also had the idea of starting a store where I could carry other brands I admire and love in my closet and have them all merchandised with my brand in one shop, but I didn’t want to just be another retail store I wanted it to feel like it brings value, I wanted women to be able to leave with outfits, or a new wardrobe or accessories they never considered mixing into their style so I opened Care Tucker Style House on Main St. in Newhall, Ca. my hometown where I grew up. It’s where you can find amazing fashion, great accessories and fun gifts. It’s all about trying to offer an elevated (luxury) touch to the experience too!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road but we have had tremendous support from the community, including us in fashion shows, local events and many customers posting to their social media or bringing in friends for shopping trips.
At the end of March ‘24 we had a huge flood in the store from broken drainage pipes in the roof that damaged our store, and $75,000 in damaged product. We had to close (and had limited operations) for over a month. Again, we had great support from locals ordering online for local pick up to keep us going.

Care Tucker is a brand that offers clothing and accessories that are comfortable, chic and versatile. We try to balance comfort and style, without compromising either. We use organic cottons, embroidered graphics and design our very own unique prints for our products. We want women to feel confident in our clothes, and focus on looks that can take you to day to night.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I had my previous brand during covid, and I learned how to pivot on social media , and really engage ( communicate) with my direct to consumer customer, and my wholesale. Instagram really helped our business durning covid. We also learned that being in a supportive community, participating, being active and involved in the good and tough times is the strength that can carry you through.
