Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Echols.
Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started She’So Divine, a luxury candle and beauty company, in 2021 after leaving my job as a Case Manager for homeless veterans in San Diego, CA. What began as a fun hobby, making spiritual candles in my little 500 sq. ft. studio apartment. Quickly turned into something more than what I expected. I posted my creations on Instagram, and to my surprise, people started asking if I sold them. So, I decided, why not?!
At that time, the “New Age” movement was booming; tarot, mystical spirituality, and manifestations were everywhere. I dove deep in, studying herbs and oils to bring certain outcomes, and my candles became known to “work”! From there, I expanded into body butters and sugar scrubs. I was doing so well online I decided to vendor at a local market. My first vendor event, I sold out within a few hours, that’s when I knew I had something special, or at least I thought I did.
Within a year, after moving back to Los Angeles, I landed my products in two local small businesses. I felt like I was really on my way to success. Then, in January 2022, I found out I was expecting my first child. I kept working on my business, but over time, I started to feel the consequences of the spiritual path I was on. I had gotten so deep into New Age practices. “White magic” and worshipping deities. That I didn’t see the danger of what I was doing. I genuinely thought I was helping people, but what I later realized. It was deception and lies of the Devil.
I began experiencing intense spiritual attacks, even seeing some of the beings I had been worshipping. That’s when I knew I had to stop before it got any worse. Leaving that dark path wasn’t easy! When you break away, the Devil doesn’t let go without a fight. I paused my business to focus on being a new mom and on severing every tie to what I had been involved in. It took nearly three years of deep self-discovery, therapy, deliverance, surrounding myself with other Christians and prayer warriors, and trusting God’s hand on my life to be truly free.
That healing journey sparked the rebirth of She’So Divine. I knew if I wanted to start my business over it had to be rebuilt on the foundation of God. He had to be the center of it, and I had to humble myself to share my story as well as apologize to my customers for unknowingly perpetuating darkness. Today, She’So Divine is a faith-based business designed to help women reconnect with their femininity through self-care and beauty products.
In January 2025, I joined the Conaxion Business Accelerator, where I received the support and funding to relaunch She’So Divine with a mission deeply aligned with who I am: creating safe, sacred spaces for women, especially mothers, to prioritize self-care, connect with God, and embrace their femininity. I’m building a community where women are encouraged to heal and prioritize themselves, knowing that when we nurture the woman, we nurture future generations. That’s why we volunteer and donate a portion of our proceeds to organizations and charities dedicated to uplifting the lives of women, mothers, and children. Since our relaunch we have seen amazing progress! In our first 90 days we received over 100 orders. In our first 6 months we received just under $10,000 in business funding through accelerator programs and have been invited to vendor at awesome events. Such as Black Wellness Worker Picnic, Bible Budget Brunch and Porsche of Woodland Hills: Back in the Driver’s Seat- Well Driven Women to name a few. God has changed my world for the better and I have a responsibility to spread his love and his gospel everywhere I go.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh gosh, no! It has definitely not been a smooth road. Outside of what I’ve already shared, entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. There are so many ups and downs, especially financially, when you’re bootstrapping. But what I’ve learned is that if there’s a will, there’s a way!
I’m incredibly resourceful and have leaned into my strength of networking and building genuine relationships. I strategically use every resource available to me to keep moving forward. And one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? Keep your 9-5!
In the beginning, I was one of those entrepreneurs who swore I’d never go back to corporate, but honey, I went back and I’m happy I did. That stability allows me to keep my business running and growing without so much financial stress.
On top of that, I’m a mom balancing a full-time job, running a household, and building my business. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t exhausting, but God gives me the discipline, strength, and grace I need to keep going.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about She’So Divine?
Our most popular products are definitely our candles and body scrubs. And when I say we’re known for having the best-smelling products, I mean it, everything we make smells absolutely DIVINE! That’s exactly why we’re called She’So Divine.
I’ve always had an eye for creating beautiful things and a natural sense of smell for blending scents that are unforgettable. When you combine those gifts, you get products that are not only stunning but also smell heavenly.
What truly sets us apart is the intentionality behind everything we do. Our mantra, “Where Beauty Meets Divine Purpose,” is the foundation of our brand. We love supporting other small, local businesses, which is why about 80% of our suppliers are based right here in The Valley.
Even our cane sugar for the scrubs is fair-trade and organic. What makes it even more meaningful, is that our supplier gives back to their farmers, ensuring they receive fair wages, access to affordable healthcare, and support for restoring their soil.
The thing we’re most proud of is that we don’t partner or buy raw materials from just anyone. We intentionally partner with organizations and businesses that share our values. They have to be rooted in healing, excellence, integrity, and bettering their communities.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Woodland Hills is truly the best neighborhood I’ve ever had the pleasure of living in. There isn’t a single thing I don’t love about it. I love it so much that I even became a stakeholder on our Community Council’s Arts and Culture Committee. The city is beautifully diverse, peaceful yet lively, and full of character. It’s a one-of-a-kind neighborhood, and I feel truly blessed to call it home.
