Today we’d like to introduce you to Bea Egeto.
Hi Bea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
As an entrepreneur you have to think outside the box, you have to cease the opportunities and find an edge you can provide in your industry. As a kid I always looked at things in a unique way, constantly looking for chances to improve in areas that interested me. I took that curiosity and used it as a tool in my careers. Every time I worked for someone else, or was part of the corporate structure, I was hungry to learn what worked and what didn’t for them, took interest in the leadership and learned what made them a successful leader, as well as what kind of inspiration I wanted to be for my team in the future. I took chances and started businesses where I saw an opportunity to offer a service where there was a need, and also offer something others were not. It wasn’t easy that’s for sure, I had to believe in what I was offering was worth it for my customers and push and take risks. The saying “no risk, no reward” might sound like a cliche, but it’s true in every sense of the word. I had to be patient with all my businesses, I was told a thousand “No”s before I had one “Yes”. I was told, “The city will not approve this… so you might as well just stop now”. I heard it all, however, I did not give up, I just kept telling myself and my partners, “I will keep knocking on doors until one opens”. You have to be your own cheerleader almost every day because if you stop believing it’s all over.
Even to this day after being in business for over a decade now, I still have to get up and think of solutions that will keep me ahead of everyone else in my field, offer something others aren’t. I don’t have the luxury to stop and get comfortable and just coast through. With today’s technology, automation, and international workforce opportunities the competition is fierce, so you have to provide something that is scarce. For me, it’s my out-of-the-box forever curiosity that made me different since I was a kid.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The challenges are endless, some are good growing pains, others are more serious in nature, however, you have to detach emotionally from issues and make the best decision you can to solve the problem. I’ve dealt with an overwhelming influx of workload, where I had to find and put together a team that I can trust and rely on, other times it was losing to a competition where it’s hard not to take it personally, but you have to just let it go.
Of course, the day-to-day challenges are always going to be there, such as making sure you run your operation as smooth as possible, which requires wearing many hats in a given moment. I’m the accountant, the janitor, the IT person, and a life coach at the same time sometimes.
We’ve been impressed with B’z Shorts INC and BCC Entertainment, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have multiple businesses; one is a marketing firm that provides social media marketing services including filming and video services for clients of a wide variety of industries. The other is an entertainment business where me and my partners design live adventure games such as escape rooms, immersive interactive theater, and more.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risks are part of the game; without it I’d be stuck in a corporate structure working my way up the ladder. You are of course taking a chance on yourself and have to accept losses along the way, it’s hard, but it’s an opportunity to learn from it and grow resilience.
I took a chance and ran with my ideas, talked to whomever listened, and was willing to give me an opportunity. This of course takes time, I also had failures along the way where I had to move on with something else. However, the ones that lead me to my successes today were built on all the failures of the past. Clients who went to competitors, pitches that lead me down a long road of a final No, gave me a chance to recalibrate these ideas into something else that ended up working.
