Exploring Life & Business with Angel Rodriguez of Lashing It Up

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Rodriguez

Hi Angel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for 13 years and found my passion for lashes when hiding from doing hair when attending cosmetology school. I found it better for me to work on clients when they had their eyes shut and not looking at me from a mirror. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed enhancing beauty with one lash at a time!
I started my career in Texas and then to California! I have two locations: one in DTLA and the other in Belmont Shore in Long Beach.
When I first started working in La, 12 years ago, I worked out of several different salons until I had to stop to take care of my grandmother. From there I went back into lashing and fulfilling all the I can in this specialized skill and promoting and selling other brands in house! I also now have worked hard in achieving glamorous vintage hairstyles! I’ve been working in the dance community where I can achieve such looks!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
People have become more and more guarded and reaching people through face to face interactions has become harder, I’ve noticed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Lashing It Up?

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I’ve learned a lot about newer professionals in my industry and the best advice I can give them is to just be professional.
Don’t vape during your appointments, don’t take personal calls in front of your clients, and just make your clients experience be about them only.
