Danielle W Carter on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Danielle W Carter. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Danielle W, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Faith. I’m on a journey of discovering God’s purpose for my life.

With faith I am learning to discern the difference between my agenda, other people’s agenda for me, and uncovering my greatest purpose. New opportunities that match God’s vision for my life keep finding me, such as building meaningful events with others who are passionate about uplifting our community. I am also having fun collaborating with other creatives who embrace their talent through writing, singing, and building a living legacy that bookmark key moments in our daily lives.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes! Hi, I’m Dani. I write, sing and produce soul, funk and R&B music. When I’m not in the studio, I design and customize a line of non-pierced jewelry for ONYX xoxo and provide wardrobe styling for films, public appearances and fashion shoots.

Recently I’ve had the pleasure of launching initiatives with several non-profits to raise awareness and funding for a variety of community causes. It’s a pleasure to collaborate with visionaries with big hearts and genuine intentions to help others.

When I perform live, I tour original music with my acoustic soul band or sing locally with my 70s funk band. I also love singing praise and worship music with my church family.

I’ve been collaborating with talented artists all over the world and can’t wait to share more musical moments with you!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The Truth. Truth can make or break a bond. Honest and open communication can restore it. Facing, accepting and working through whatever the situation is can also bring people back together, or at least bring about a better understanding and acceptance of differing points of view. Putting love and kindness above any selfishness or desires that stem from the ego is a challenge. However, the power of prayer, forgiveness and releasing any animosity is a transformative gift that people can share to move forward with peace of mind.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I started converting pain into power when I wrote my first poem as a child. Turning my feelings into artistic expression still shows me the weight and impact of words and music. Creative writing and singing is a powerful combo which has helped me to understand my emotions and to create a beautiful life.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family. The freedom to share pure love and joy through my creative works. Learning new perspectives from entrepreneurs and nurturing close relationships. Great conversations.

My friends would say that I’m fascinated by how successful businesses are created and led. I often help other entrepreneurs build and scale their ideas.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
At sunrise or sunset while watching the ocean waves….add a cool breeze and I return to the simplicity and goodness of life.
