Daily Inspiration: Meet Skyler Cariaga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skyler Cariaga

Hi Skyler, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Beverly Hills and raised in Hollywood, surrounded by the fast-paced energy of the city. Growing up, I always had a love for creativity, fashion, and connecting with people, but I never imagined that one day I’d turn those passions into a career.

My journey started with a mix of different jobs—creating social media content for brands like Honeybum and Giant Vintage on TikTok, making coffee as a barista, and working as a personal assistant for the CEO of Mill Ticket Tv. Each experience taught me something valuable: how to market a product, how to communicate with different types of people, and how to manage multi tasking.

As I continued to explore different opportunities, I found myself in and out of college taking art classes, photography, and animation; learning to build my skill set and become more knowledgeable. Then came a turning point in my career, as I discovered the e-commerce world, becoming a Video Fit Model. I not only get to be in front of the camera but also have the creative freedom to film, edit, and produce content that directly influences shoppers.

In my personal time, I’ve taken everything I’ve learned and turned it into something of my own. As a freelance model and UGC creator, I get to create content that reflects my style, personality, and vision. Looking back, every job I had played a role in getting me here. What started as just a few TikTok videos in my room has led me to building a career on my own terms—and I’m just getting started!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been lucky to have a strong support system from my family and friends, but the journey hasn’t always been smooth. Choosing a non-traditional path—stepping in and out of school to pursue art and modeling—has been challenging, especially when it comes to reassuring my parents that this is the right direction for me. However, little by little, I’ve been able to show them that trusting my vision is paying off.

There have been moments of doubt, but that’s completely normal. I remind myself that life is meant to be enjoyed, and I’m so young, I haven’t even had the chance to experience all that life has to offer. Any challenge I face is an opportunity to grow, adapt, and push myself further. The challenges aren’t setbacks; they’re just part of the journey, shaping me into the person I’m meant to become.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m currently a Video Fit Model, creating engaging videos that give consumers a clear understanding of a garment’s fit, feel, movement, and style. From styling and makeup to filming, editing, and uploading, I handle the entire content creation process to ensure an authentic and informative shopping experience. As a 5’4” petite model, I love that I can showcase my personality while representing shorter women in the modeling industry, serving as a true frame of reference for fit.

Outside of my e-commerce work, I specialize in graphic design, 3D design, art direction, UGC, and freelance modeling. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to work on exciting projects, such as social media content for *MillTicketTv*, creating UGC for *Mediheal*, and designing a 3D logo for *Peru Williams Photography*. I’ve also had the chance to model for brands like *kCurlsys* and *Revolve*, as well as appear in music videos for *Chris Brown* and *Tyga*. Additionally, I direct and style my own personal photo shoots and video content.

What sets me apart is my versatility and drive—I’m not just in front of the camera; I’m behind it too, bringing ideas to life through creative direction, filming, and strategic marketing. Most importantly, I lead with authenticity, making sure everything I create feels real, relatable, and true to who I am!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is just a fancy word for making friends, and the best advice I can offer is to put yourself out there. Living in LA, you never know if your next life opportunity will be at a farmers market, riding the metro, or walking down the street. When it comes to mentorship, I like to seek guidance from a variety of people—former bosses, colleagues, professors, and family friends. I believe it’s important to have a diverse range of mentors, not just those who are older, but also people who have found success in different ways. This gives me multiple perspectives to learn from, helping me navigate both my career and personal life.

What’s worked well for me is understanding that advice isn’t always something you have to follow exactly. Making mistakes is part of the process, and ultimately, I have to trust my own instincts. But having mentors I can talk to on an intellectual level keeps me accountable and pushes me to grow in ways I might not have on my own.
