Daily Inspiration: Meet Sean Bartley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Bartley.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first picked up a camera in high school and immediately fell in love with camera composition and storytelling. Throughout college, I practiced my craft whether it was shot composition or photo editing. A few years ago I worked with Angela Simmons on a video project which sparked everything. I was able to create a successful video with her which ultimately led to me working on other video projects and short films with other celebrities and brands.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth at all, especially now that I’m focusing on scripted content. Every day I’m learning something new about storytelling, directing, producing, set design, marketing, etc. I try to remain a student of the game at all times.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the creator and showrunner of Connect The Series, a breakthrough show. “Connect The Series” chronicles the journey of Sean (Jared D. Howard), Jasmine (Kayla Higgenbottom), Tiffany (Nijah Brenea) and Jacques (Najee Harrington) as they explore life after college, navigating through entrepreneurship, work politics, relationships, and adulting while living in Atlanta. You can watch two seasons of Connect The Series, streaming exclusively on kweliTV.

Sean hopes to showrun and produce other television shows for studios and networks.

What does success mean to you?
I define success by having the ability to do whatever I want, whenever I want to do it. Whether that’s through creating stories I wish to tell or even hopping on a flight and going to a different country.
