Daily Inspiration: Meet Rocio Geraldine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocio Geraldine.

Rocio Geraldine

Hi Rocio, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In a world where challenges can either break you or build you up, I hope that my story can stand as a testament to the power of resilience and determination. I was born in the beautiful Dominican Republic. But my journey truly began when my family relocated to Miami, Florida, when I was just five years old. Despite our privileged background, my childhood was overshadowed by the darkness of abuse, with my father casting a heavy cloud over our home. Yet, amidst the turmoil, my mother emerged as a guiding light of strength and hope. When I was ten, she made the courageous decision to break free from the cycle of abuse, igniting a journey of healing and renewal for us all.

But life wasn’t finished testing us. At sixteen, my mother fell ill, thrusting me into the role of primary caregiver. It was a challenging time, but I refused to let adversity define me. Working tirelessly at a real estate law firm and starting my own property management company, I pursued education alongside caregiving responsibilities. Against all odds, I earned a master’s degree in cognitive behavioral therapy, driven by my passion for helping others.

During this period of growth and self-discovery, I stumbled upon my love for acting and mindfulness. Combining these passions, I founded “Art of Mindfulness,” a platform aimed at fostering presence and authenticity through mindful improv. Through this innovative approach, I empowered countless individuals to embrace their true selves and communicate more effectively.

But my journey was far from over. In 2019, I took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles to pursue my acting dreams. Amidst auditions and rehearsals, I also dedicated myself to building “Leave Your Mark,” a nonprofit aimed at making a positive impact through global volunteerism.

In 2022, I found love and companionship in my amazing husband, embarking on a new chapter of adventure and purpose. Together, we traveled the world, spreading love and kindness, all while nurturing our nonprofit’s growth.

And now, as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our baby boy in July 2024, we stand poised on the brink of a new, exciting chapter. With an unwavering commitment to making a difference, we are ready to embrace the journey ahead, inspiring others to find their own strength and resilience.

I hope that my story can be a testament to the transformative power of perseverance, passion, and compassion. Through every trial and triumph, I’ve emerged stronger, more determined, and more committed to making the world a better place. As I embark on this new chapter, I’m filled with hope and excitement for the impact yet to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. My journey has been marked by numerous struggles and challenges that tested my resilience and determination every step of the way. Coming from a very abusive childhood to becoming a caregiver for my mother at a young age, I faced adversity from the very beginning.

Balancing work, caregiving, and my own education was incredibly demanding, both emotionally and physically. There were times when I felt overwhelmed and doubted my ability to keep going. Additionally, pursuing acting and mindfulness in a competitive industry like Los Angeles presented its own set of obstacles. Rejections, financial pressures, and the uncertainty of the entertainment world made it difficult to stay focused and motivated.

Building a nonprofit organization from the ground up also came with its own share of challenges. From fundraising to logistical hurdles, there were moments when it felt like an uphill battle. And, of course, navigating the complexities of starting a family while pursuing my passions added another layer of complexity to the journey.

But through it all, I’ve learned that every struggle and setback has been an opportunity for growth and learning. Each challenge has made me stronger, more resilient, and more determined to continue pushing forward. And while the road may not have been smooth, every obstacle has ultimately shaped me into the person I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is a combination of acting, mindfulness, and social impact, creating a unique blend of creativity and purpose. As an artist and advocate for mindfulness, I specialize in crafting experiences that invite individuals to explore their creativity while cultivating presence and awareness.

What sets me apart is my ability to infuse mindfulness into every aspect of my work. Whether I’m on stage, guiding participants through improv exercises, or creating content on social media, mindfulness serves as the foundation, grounding each moment in intention and authenticity.

But what am I most proud of? It’s the moments of connection and transformation that occur when individuals engage with my work. Whether it’s witnessing someone find their voice on stage, experience a breakthrough in a mindfulness exercise, or connect with a community through social media, these moments of impact are truly inspiring.

In addition to my creative pursuits, I’m deeply committed to giving back to my community and making a positive difference in the world. That’s why I’m involved in a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through volunteerism, education, and social change.

Currently, I’m also working on writing a children’s mindfulness journal aimed at nurturing young minds and helping them develop important life skills such as resilience, compassion, and self-awareness. Through playful activities and engaging stories, I hope to inspire a new generation to embrace mindfulness and self-care practices from an early age.

What sets me apart is my dedication to weaving together creativity, mindfulness, and social impact in everything I do. Whether it’s entertaining audiences on stage, connecting with followers on social media, or making a difference in the community through non-profit work, I’m committed to using my talents and passions to create positive change in the world, one moment at a time.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about your city is its vibrant energy and diversity. From the bustling streets filled with people from all walks of life and the endless possibilities for anyone who comes here.

One of the things that stands out to me is the city’s commitment to innovation and creativity. I also absolutely love the outdoors and being able to enjoy and explore nature when City life becomes too much.

However, like any city, there are also challenges to navigate. One aspect that I find challenging is the congestion and traffic, which can sometimes make getting around a bit hectic. The cost of living is pretty high, so it’s important to be ready to face those costs. Additionally, when you don’t know anyone, it can be a little lonely at first as well.

Overall, though, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and I’m continually inspired by the amazing opportunities this city offers.
