Today we’d like to introduce you to Passion King.

Passion, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up always knowing that I wanted to become a mother. When I got pregnant in 2015, I was excited but also anxious. Within months of my pregnancy, the excitement left and I was just anxious, I feared giving birth and I felt ashamed that I was pregnant. I isolated myself and thought it would just go away. I gave birth in June 2015, the anxiousness didn’t leave and was compounded with resentment, frustration and feeling unworthy. When my son was three months old, I put him to bed, sat on the bathroom floor and contemplated taking my own life. I knew something was wrong and began to lean on my faith and my friends. I quickly realized that a lot of women had the same experience and there was a name for this: Postpartum Depression. I began blogging about my experience and in Febuary 2020, I released my first book ” Postpartum Promises: A Mothers Guide To Identifying & Overcoming Postpartum Depression,”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has definitely had its struggles. There is a stigma attached to mental illness and a fear of speaking out. I understand that by telling my story, I am helping others. In spite of any struggles, I move forward for this reason.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an author and postpartum advocate. I help mothers identify and overcome postpartum depression so they can embrace motherhood. I feel like being a faith-based advocate sets me apart. I believe that God gave me this platform so that I am able to help advocate for mothers and lead them to Him.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson have learned is that your story matters! Your voice matters! I have had both men and women reach out to me. They ask me questions about my own experience and ask for advice with a family member or friend who is going through it.
