Daily Inspiration: Meet Nicole Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Coleman.

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello! Thank you so much. I am very pleased and grateful for this opportunity… Well, I am a serial entrepreneur and certified life coach with a passion for helping women and small business owners thrive! I believe in striving for excellence and encouraging people to continue growing. Motivating people on their journey, in whatever capacity; and empowering entrepreneurs and families to their highest greatness is a deep mission for me. I am currently pursuing my Master at Pepperdine University while managing multiple businesses. My journey catapulted into something beyond me when my only child and daughter passed from meningitis at 6 months old. The tragedy nearly debilitated me. I struggled to find purpose but my faith in God guided and encouraged me to found a national nonprofit organization, the Little Princess Foundation, currently known as Life’s Purpose Fulfilled; in Ka’mya’s honor.

Through the organization and other efforts, I speak to and mentor girls, boys and families throughout the country. My loss helped me realize and recognize my passion for helping children. All while offering me the opportunity to carry on the legacy of my daughter. Working with children on the spectrum and creating a sensory safe haven for them became part of my mission after stumbling on an opportunity to work with families living with autism. Years later, yet another opportunity presented itself. This time it was the chance to expand my reach with the introduction to We Rock The Spectrum Santa Monica! I must admit that the best part about this new venture is witnessing the way the gym helps children, their families, and the community. This truly does bring one of greatest senses of personal joy and fulfillment. To that end, this is only the beginning. My dreams and plans include greater expansion and opportunities for the community both locally and abroad. Additionally, I also use my skill and love for writing and coaching, as I am completing a book on success slated to launch at the top of the year–(shameless plug), to contribute to society and to inspire individuals to pursue success in every area of their lives!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but, as with anything, it has truly been about embracing the journey! As a recent Cancer and Covid survivor, dealing with personal traumas, and struggling to find space in the world, not only as a woman but as a woman of color, I’ve learned the necessity of not only hard work but smart work. For me, there’s also always been the added pressure of being a young entrepreneur and the fight to be taken seriously and to prove your value. Nonetheless, while it hasn’t been easy, it’s helped shape a lot of who I am today! I found support in family relationships, my faith in Jesus, and my deeply-rooted commitment to help our community. These have been my driving force that push me to march forward toward the greater vision ahead…

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My business is serial entrepreneurship! I find my passion and fulfillment is helping others and also pursuing and accomplishing everything that has been placed in me to do and Be! As a real estate agent, fashion designer, writer, life-coach, and mentor, I believe in using my gifts to the fullest. My motto is that we should all strive to “die empty!” I once heard a wise man say the wealthiest place in the world is the cemetery because it is full of people who never dared to pursue their dreams! That reality, aside from my innate personality, sparked a fire to resist ever being put in a box!

I believe that our opportunities are endless and we can be everything we want to be if and when we BELIEVE! Why be limited to just one thing? Everything I do, is a piece of me, and I express myself via my clothing line, Pieces x Kola, and through home design, there I am the model and everything that I admired as a young girl. With my work in the community, I am the mother that I was destined to be to Ka’mya. My will and ability to shift gears between everything I do is what sets me apart from others and what makes me who I Am! My connection to We Rock The Spectrum, Santa Monica is truly what fuels me because it is there that I get to touch the community and the families in a way that goes beyond a typical career. It’s the place where my heart is able to reach everyone from the innocent infant, toddler or adolescent all the way to the hurting and overwhelmed moms and dads simply looking for a place where they don’t have to explain or say sorry for their child’s condition.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The best advice I would give to those reading this is in three parts. First, count the cost of your assignment (whether it be becoming a parent, entrepreneur, etc. ). Know and understand what it takes and be willing to commit to the process, no matter what it may look like. Secondly, when you jump after any goal– be it to start a business or help your child or friend living with autism or any special need for that matter, set realistic expectations and celebrate every part of the journey! This will allow you to better plan for success and will give you the encouragement to press on. Strategic integration is also key. This is where you assess and find the strategy for improved work/life balance. Lastly, you have to be willing to be your own and greatest advocate. People will fail you and disappoint you… We are all human and no one will ever be perfect. You have to know your worth, stand by it, and believe in yourself! Lastly, make sure that you are paying attention to your own mental health and self-care needs as you are “BECOMING” the you that you were created to be!
