Hi Lorena, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Answer:
After working for several years in different spas, clinics, and skincare businesses, I realized I wanted to create something that combined all of my experiences and knowledge. I originally trained as a dentist in Argentina and later earned a master’s degree in nutrition here in Los Angeles, but I wanted to merge my understanding of health, anatomy, and wellness in a hands-on, personalized way. That led me to Citrus College, where I earned my esthetician license.
With my esthetician license, multiple certifications, and experience teaching at Esthetician schools in Los Angeles, I felt ready to pursue my dream of running my own business. In October 2024, I opened MAE, Modern Aesthetic Essence Skincare in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, creating a space where clients receive personalized results, driven treatments in a welcoming and relaxing environment.

I started with no clients, just enthusiasm and a commitment to offer honest, high-quality care. My focus has always been on personalized treatments, relaxation, and human connection, ensuring every client leaves feeling relaxed, happy, and with glowing skin. I also incorporate professional-grade, vegan, chemical-free products that support long-term skin health.
Since opening, I’ve worked hard to grow my client base and presence, from door-to-door invitations to neighbors to building my social media accounts. It’s been a journey of learning, especially in marketing, but the most rewarding part is seeing the impact my treatments have on my clients’ skin and confidence. Today, MAE is a private, welcoming, and results-driven skincare studio where I continue to blend my passion, expertise, and care for each person who walks through the door.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening a business for the first time has definitely not been a smooth road. Starting MAE, Modern Aesthetic Essence Skincare required a lot of hard work every day to promote the business and make it visible so that people in the community could get to know me and my services. One of the biggest challenges has been patience by nature, I’m someone who likes to see immediate results, but the reality of building a business is very different.
There’s also the learning curve of marketing and self-promotion. Setting up social media, creating content, and connecting with potential clients has been a constant effort, and sometimes it feels overwhelming. But every step of the way has been rewarding, because I get to see my clients’ skin transform and their confidence grow. These results remind me that dedication, persistence, and consistent care really pay off in the long run.

At MAE,Modern Aesthetic Essence Skincare, I specialize in advanced, results-driven facial treatments that combine holistic care with the latest technology. I also focus on creating personalized skincare plans for each client, so their results continue at home.
What I’m most proud of is the trust and connection I build with my clients. Many people tell me that my treatments not only improve their skin but also leave them feeling completely relaxed, cared for, and confident. I’m known for my gentle, professional touch and for truly understanding each person’s unique skin needs without pushing unnecessary products.
What sets me apart is the combination of my background in dentistry, nutrition, and esthetics, along with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and beauty. This gives me a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and skin health, which I integrate into every treatment. My approach emphasizes healing through touch, personalization, and high-quality, chemical-free products, so every client leaves with visible results and a rejuvenated experience.

What matters most to me is creating a space where skincare is personalized, holistic, and results driven. I’ve seen so many people experience facials that feel impersonal or don’t address their unique skin concerns, and I wanted to change that. For me, it’s about more than just treatments,it’s about making every client feel welcomed, nurtured, and confident that they are in a space dedicated to their skin’s health and overall well-being.
I want clients to leave not only with visible results but also feeling relaxed, cared for, and empowered to maintain their skin’s health at home. The human connection, personalized care, and the trust I build with clients are what truly drive me and make my work meaningful every day.
