Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Lanice Wray.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been doing makeup for about 12 years now.
When I was a child, I’ve seen myself wanting to be in fashion and beauty. I started doing makeup in the bathrooms of my high school and that led to me going to cosmetology school, working in cosmetic retail, and before you know it landing a contract with Paramount. (formerly known as Viacom).
Since then, I’ve been blessed to work red carpet events, runways for NYFW, magazine spreads, beauty campaigns, LIVE television shows, and most recently a feature film!
The journey hasn’t been easy or a straight path but absolutely worth it!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is going to continue to “life” so learning how to pivot has truly been the name of the game. From relocating to learning to step out of my comfort zone to advancements in technology and social media, even the pandemic – these were all moments where I had to regroup, refocus, create a strategy and give it another shot.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Celebrity Makeup and Male Grooming artist. I’m most know for my skin/complexion work – my ability to make skin look like skin while creating timeless glam and making editorial beauty accessible!
I’m most proud of my ability to adapt to my surroundings and think quickly on my feet. I work very well under pressure and it definitely comes in handy when working with my celebrity clients!
What sets me apart from others is simply my being truly and authentically myself and always keeping a servant’s heart.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory would have to be taking an “Image Course” and learning all about fashion, beauty, etiquette, hygiene, and poise.
I met one of my very best friends while going through the program and I learned to truly embrace my feminity!
