Today we’d like to introduce you to Keiko Wedding.
Keiko, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I first came to the United States from Japan in 2002 with the dream of becoming a makeup artist. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and learn from many people with diverse careers, which has constantly inspired me to grow. Today, I am based in Los Angeles and continue to work on a wide range of projects as a makeup artist
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has truly been a story that can’t be summed up in just a few words it’s been filled with joy and challenges I never could have imagined, along with a whirlwind of emotions and experiences. Starting out in a place with a different language and culture meant that before I could even focus on the work itself, I first had to take the time to build a foundation for my life here.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently based in Los Angeles, working as a makeup artist and hair artist across television, film, commercials, and entertainment projects. My background is quite unique. I hold a Master’s degree in Japanese calligraphy, which gives me a refined sense of brushwork and precision. I specialize in color correction, designing makeup looks that reflect different eras, and above all, having the vision to bring out the unique qualities that make each individual shine. In 2024, I was honored to receive an Emmy Award for my work on The Morning Show, which has opened even more opportunities and collaborations across a wider range of fields and people.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I still vividly remember spending summer vacations at the beach with my family as a child. Even now, the sound and smell of the ocean instantly bring back those nostalgic feelings and fill me with happiness.
