Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Garcia
Hi Jose, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been a huge fan of music. I used to go to every concert I could, just to experience the energy and connection it brings. Singing and dancing have always been a big part of my life, and I love hitting clubs and local shows where I can truly be myself.
At some point, I realized I didn’t just want to attend these events—I wanted to be more involved in the scene. So, I started posting about the shows and clubs I went to. It took me a while to understand the ins and outs of social media algorithms, but I finally cracked the code. Now, I work with bands, DJs, promoters, and clubs, showcasing the beauty of music to the world. I love what I do, and I’m excited to keep growing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been far from a smooth road. I’ve created many failed Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube pages. Those took so much time and effort, and at the time, it was discouraging because there was just no momentum. Looking back now, with the success I’m having, I’m actually grateful for those failures because they taught me how to read the algorithms and understand what really works.
Now, my biggest struggle is scaling this and balancing it with my full-time job. I work three hours away from Los Angeles, so every week, I make two trips—one on my personal weekend to shoot content with the two people I manage and another on the weekend to go to a show or club to shoot content for myself. It’s been tough, but right now, I’m doing my best to manage both responsibilities. I believe in what I’m building, and I’m giving it my all.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a videographer, capturing special moments at ska shows and goth clubs. Beyond that, I manage two individuals who I truly believe have the potential to become massive influencers.
The first is my brother, known as @gothtio on social media. His aura is like no other—he captivates anyone who sees him. I’ve always believed in him, and that’s why I dedicate as much time as possible to help him grow. Even as kids, I knew he had something special in him, and now, I’m proud to be part of his journey, helping him accomplish his dreams.
The second is @komeplanta, the lead singer of La Muerte and La Pobreska. If you ever get a chance, check them out. His energy on stage is unmatched. It doesn’t matter if he’s performing for 100 people or 10,000—he always gives it his all. Beyond his talent, he’s hardworking and kindhearted, which is why so many people love him. I know we’re going to do great things together.
With both of these individuals, we have big plans for the future, and my job is to make sure we accomplish them. I believe in myself and my knowledge of social media, and I know I’m going to make this happen—failure is not an option. I’ve come too far not to succeed.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in a really religious household, but even when I was at church, I’d find myself dancing and singing every chance I got. I’m grateful that, even though my parents don’t fully understand what I do, they accept that it makes me happy and support me. Music has always been in my blood. I might not be as great a dancer as my brother or as incredible a performer as Komeplanta, but that has never stopped me from going all out on the dance floor or in front of a mic.
In high school, I learned how to play instruments, joined an orchestra, and jammed with friends—really, anything to be involved in music. I never had the talent to take it to the next level, but I always wanted to be a part of it. I was loud and weird, but that’s exactly how I wanted to be. Thankfully, I met friends who accepted me and actually liked my level of crazy. Most of my success wouldn’t be possible without the best friends who believed in me, and I thank them all.
Beyond music, I’ve always loved nature. Right now, I work as an outdoor educator for California State Parks, living in a park called Ocotillo Wells. I also have a deep love for astronomy, which is part of why I chose to move to the middle of nowhere—whenever I want, I can look up and see a stunning collection of stars in the night sky. And when I’m not outside, I’m usually watching animation. I love anime, adult animation, and American animation—it’s such a beautiful art form, and I’m constantly amazed by the talent and creativity that goes into it.
