Today we’d like to introduce you to Jericho Guzman.
Hi Jericho, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Always have loved music my whole life, but when it was time for career choices I chose the safe option. It was a roller coaster of a journey to get here and be in the music industry. I was a pre-med student and still a computer nerd that loves music and technology. That love for music and technology evolved in me transferring to Berklee and eventually landing an engineering gig.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s no smooth road for most people! Bouncing around gigs, jobs and places to get to where I am is what shaped me and I am forever grateful for my experiences. The struggles made me better as a musician and a person. It continues to shape me and has forever gave me a mindset to be adaptable and ever learning.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in music production and engineering. I am a nerd for all things gear and computers. I love how a lot of gear interacts to create weird sounds and tones in songs. I think mixing a song is an underrated feeling. Crafting the tone and the sound to a song yo produce from the ground up feels so rewarding to be apart of the entire process. It’s like growing a garden. I do not think anything sets me apart talent wise. I think I just like to tinker and am more patient with the craft more than most people.
What matters most to you? Why?
I think friends and family is the. most important thing. As important music is in my life, the only reason why I keep going is those close to me.
